mmm...basically because there was no Relgion and Politics forum? A few people stirring up shit? And possibly not enough moderaters to keep things decent. There were some pretty funny threads though! "It's better 2 B hated 4 what U R than 2 B loved 4 what U R not."

As I remember it,
1) At the time, new threads were posted on the org home page, and there were a lot of "Jesus sucks my cock" type threads which was embarrassing. 2) An org clique invaded another site and started some kind of war As it was becoming too much of a pain in the ass, Ben and gang decided to just shut it off and let it cool down. Sometimes it's best to let sleeping dogs lie. 
In a nutshell, things got out of hand, and a break was in order. During the downtime, we improved the moderation software, put together a set of forum rules, and clarified our internal moderation procedures. The prince.org Site Discussion forum should have plenty of stuff that was posted around the time of the shutdown, if you want to know more. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |
