There's one of two possibilities: 1) the DA is getting all his ducks in a row and will hit Kobe with an airtight case; or 2) the DA is trying to find a politically palatable way to shut this case down. I'm leaning towards no. If the DNA evidence were that damning, he'd have been charged last week. Even if the DNA evidence comes up positive, the DA will still have to cobble together a case that can withstand the "consent" defense. It's gonna be hard for any jury to buy that Kobe could or needed to force himself on a woman when, as an NBA player, he could have any woman he wanted and his record is clean. That's not to say that it definitely DIDN'T happen. That's just to say I doubt that Kobe could or would do it, and that I think the DA is leaning towards no charges based on the relatively long amount of time that has elapsed. Point: saying Kobe wouldn't do it because he could have sex with wifey or almost any other woman doesn't cut it as an argument. Admit it--you are basing your opinion on your personal feelings about the guy, about what you want to be true about him and the situation: "I doubt Kobe could or would do it". Based upon what? His playing, his smile, the fact that you like his team? All along, I've been saying that I don't know if he did it or not, but I see most people jumping to his defense while attacking the woman in the case--and that's what I don't like. When I defend this woman, (and actually, I don't defend her so much as ask people not to automatically conclude she's making it all up) it's not necessarily because I think he's guilty. Let's just wait and see what happens.
