Dealing with the death of a friend

Just had a really weird day. It's my ex girlfriends birthday and I went 2 see her 2night straight from work. We split about a month ago but we've stayed friends and it all seems OK. Anyway I digress.
We went 2 the pub where she used 2 work and one of the barmaids told us that my exes friend has 2 days 2 live. They were really close and she's really upset. She spoke 2 the guys boyfriend but he was 2 upset 2 be really coherent and she doesn't want 2 be 2 pushy. Apparantley they're gonna operate(He has cancer which has spread 2 his brain) Has anyone out there been through something similar? I want 2 be there 4 her. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanx in advance

I lost my best friend a couple years ago. Nothing was comfort to me. The only thing you can do is let her know that youre there for her when she is ready for a friend, and pray.
I'm feelin kind of n-a-s-t-y
I might just take you home with me

Far too many times, friend. People deal with death in a variety of ways and go through lots of emotions; anger, fear, sadness, resentment, blame, and, believe it or not, sexual arousal or being turned off sexually. You will need to be VERY patient with her.You also need to know that the grieving process could last a very long time. Ask yourself now if you are prepared to go the distance (years, maybe).Last, and MOST importantly, read Matthew 5:4.
May His peace be upon you,
Lo.
