If you met a person that was blind their entire life....

how would you describe certain colors to them?

That's a good question and I would tell them to check for the bagginess of the pants because some people say you can tell from that the colors and such.

Thank you very much.

I don't think it's possibe to describe a purely visual sensory experience to somebody who has never had them.

If I had to, I suppose I'd describe the usual cliches. . .green as soothing and fresh, blue as beautiful and moody, red as vibrant and energetic. But I'd feel stupid about it.

Maybe I'd just make them eat a box of popsicles while I told them the colors. That'd work too. biggrin

i would try to express the beauty of colour through sound. matching colours to the rise and fall of the waves - the wind - a storm - a song - events like that. i think miles davis did a beautiful job with the tracks on aura, a nine-part suite, based upon his audial perceptions of his own aura. maybe that would be a nice place to start.
zesty!!!

..

kinda disagree, the concept that a blind person has of

colour would be structured differently from a seeing person

but i wouldn't say that it was not possible to do.

the popsicle idea for instance is cool

by tasting different fruits, one can recreate the image of colour

represented by that piece of fruit

smell is another sense that can recreate an illusion of colour

..

It's really quite simple.
For someone who can't see one must only compare
the colors to what the can hear, feel, and smell.
believe it or not, they can understand that.
