OK...I love my 1993 Honda Civic DX with 163000 miles and it has really been an awesome car for me for the past 7 years (I bought it used) BUT...
I was just given the kiss of death of car repairs - a blown head gasket. It's the kiss of death for me because I do not have $1000 to put into this car.
SO...
I am calling on my fellow orgers to recommend the best way to go about buying a late model used car. Any advice?
Note: My credit isn't wrecked but it may be termed "slow".

(PS-yes i did just report on a thread about a week ago that I would recommend a Honda to anybody and I still would - I would buy another one in a heartbeat. So much for this one lasting me another 2-3 years though).
