Dangerfield to Remake 'Back to School'

LOS ANGELES - It's "Back to School" for Rodney Dangerfield (news). The 81-year-old comedian has signed a deal with MGM to remake the 1986 hit comedy, his publicist Kevin Sasaki said Friday.

The bug-eyed comic won't reprise his starring role as a brash businessman who becomes a college freshman. But he may have a cameo and probably will receive a producer or executive producer credit, Sasaki said.

Dangerfield retained some rights to the movie when MGM bought the film library of Orion Pictures, the original distributor.

The decision to remake the film follows Dangerfield's successful brain surgery in April. The procedure was designed to improve his blood flow for an upcoming heart valve replacement, which has been put off for at least nine months, Sasaki said.

A scheduled July 19 show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas has been postponed while Dangerfield recuperates.

Dangerfield is one of the very "few" comedians left I REALLY like & find funny. However he too, is old, and might not be around long, as with walter matthaw... Jack Lemmon is another great comedian, with few movie roles nowadays though. Bulushi, Candy, Radner, Lucille Ball, Winters, Gleason, Skelton, etc. are gone too. I'm sure I'm 4getting other "greats. Unlike the music of "2day" though, some newer comedians are very funny!
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses

The reason Jack Lemmon does not get movie roles now is that he died.

Walter Matthau 1920-2000

Jack Lemmon 1925-2001
