Yoga I want to start doing Yoga. My main motivation is to instill some peace of mind inside myself. Do any of you idiots do Yoga? And what style would you recommend?

I'm an "idiot" that does Yoga. Used to anyway. Try Hatha Yoga. I think that it's the simplest form. It's just strecthing, posing and deep breathing. **************************************************

I've been doing yoga for four years now, and I would like to be an instructor someday.
It's changed my life completely, and I can't imagine ever stopping. I'll be doing yoga when I'm 80 if I live that long. Right now I've been doing Iyengar yoga pretty intensely. I recommend it to everyone. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

I recommend it to everyone. How's it changed your life? Well, I'll make it short because I need to log off soon (to do yoga!), but it's just made me a more calm person, and has really changed the way I work when I am dancing and training (I am a dancer). Also, it's gotten me into the best shape of my life and I feel so much stronger in every physical thing I do. Also, I rarely get sick or injured anymore, but just in case, I am knocking on wood now. I love it, and really need to make a point of doing it regularly.
My first session of classes was Iyengar -- definitely a good place to start for good form. After that I started Kundalini, which rocked my world!!! I recommend www.yogajournal.com to find a school in your area. Namaste. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

What style did you do? hatha...and then there was another one i tried but didn't like it. It was when you're in a room that's 100 degrees and you just sweat sweat sweat. The first class you take of that, if you make it through with just the heat you're lucky. Hatha was good though. You just need a good instructor that shows you how to get into the positions correctly rather than just sit in the front of the class and make you watch them. I was doing a lot of them wrong and I didn't know until they changed instructors. Try it out...it helps your digestive system and your balance.

DO NOT PRACTICE YOGA IF YOU ARE HUNGOVER.
The results are horrific... *sob*

i like it. it's low impact yet can be incredibly strenuous. most helpful of all are the breathing exercises. and it helps a lot with balance
