Moonbeam

We had a wonderful time for her birthday. My brother and I took her to Royal Oak, a nice suburb of Detroit where we went shopping for her (biggrin) and bought her a nice dinner. It was wonderful spending time with her. She amazes me more with every second. I can't stop staring at her eyes, unless I'm so intimidated by the beauty that I'm forced to look away. I am COMPLETELY in love with this girl, beyond doubt. I never knew love like this was possible. Even I couldn't have imagined someone so tender, warm, compassionate, caring, GORGEOUS and willing to do whatever to make me the happiest man ever.

What are her impressions/comments/opinions about the States so far, Moonbeam? (obviously, she loves you, which is most important!)

She's seen 9 states so far, and has enjoyed them all- especially Kansas. lol Things she has observed:

  • Service in restaurants is a lot quicker than in Australia. She isn't used to being asked for her order so quickly.

  • Check out times are annoying in hotels. Who wants to be ready to leave by 11AM?

  • Strict checking of IDs was pretty surprising to her. We got wine with her birthday dinner and she was taken aback by having to show her ID.

  • Driving on the right side of the road is still strange to her, as is getting into the right side of the car as the passenger.

Kansas actually made us both pretty loopy as it was so...Kansan.

I think what she has enjoyed most is the Southern accents we encountered in Texas (and the fact that I am so receptive to accents that I picked up a little twang redface).

It's S. African most definitely, but there is a bit of Australian in there. It's not incredibly strong though. Her voice is beautiful.

I was jabbering away at her in my 'California' accent, which DOES NOT EXIST, IAN!
