From what I understand it is very difficult to be accepted as a performer in shows put on by CiRQUE DU SOLEiL. Jila, my sister, is usually part of a dance troop based in LA and they specialize in fire dancing specifically. She and two other people in her troop were hand picked back in February and flown to Montreal where they have been putting a show together. One of them was fired last month. He wasn't what they were looking for. I guess it's a make or break situation. She came back to Cali last week and left for Vegas 2 days ago. I'm so proud of this lil lady!!! She is finally doing something in life that she loves to do.

I´ve heard about this circus before. I understand it´s very prestigious and that the performers are among the best in the world. So congratulations to your sister who apparently has both talent and beauty! You must be proud.

U maight be interested in checking out my friends Hannah & Mark - they're really 'out there', but totally enthralling. They've appeared on tour with TooL (as well as in the videos 4 'StinfisT' & 'Schism' and MIB2
Check out the movies while you're there (U can find them in the 'Archives' section -> 'Videos' They will at least give u a good idea of what they do, better than I could ever describe...

Pejman--how excellent! For a second I thought this was a joke, but then I kept reading...how'd your sister get into the whole fire dancing thing, how long's she been doing it, and has she burned herself badly or had accidents? I'd say Cirque is really careful with its safety stuff, but still I will think of her and hope she's doing ok!

That's really cool Pej. Cirque de Soleil is very difficult to get into, and they hold auditions all over the world looking for people. It would be a fun group to work with.
