I base my opinion on the acquaintances and friends I know who do this. They put a great deal of effort into deciding what workout clothing they're going to wear, how their faces and bodies look, and what men might be there to see them while they work out. They treat the gym almost like a singles bar, lol. They are like this no matter where they go, and ask me--or whoever is with them--if they look ok about a zillion times. They tend to be insecure because they've been told by either their fathers or their boyfriends or other significant people in their lives that they don't measure up beauty-wise: this is what they've told me, not what I've assumed.

Is every woman who wears makeup to the gym insecure and vain? No, of course not. A lot of women at the gym have makeup on which is left over from their day at work. Or maybe a woman or man has a zit they want to cover up. I think that several people on this thread and I just find it a bit weird that there are some people who intentionally use makeup to try to look good at the gym, rather than just viewing a workout as time to oneself to work on fitness....
