In another installment of the Nep2nes Dating Series:

Date #2 with Younes (aka "napkin-guy") was a success!

I was able to relax and learn to anticipate his attempts to be chivalrous. This means that whenever there's a door I stand there cuz I know he's gonna open it, or whenever there is a slight hill, I have to hold his hand, U know, all that bullshit which us ladies know we are physically capable of doing but men like to do so as to feel useful..

We went to a much more relaxed dining establishment. We made more conversation this time. Topics very typical of me: religion and politics (how did you KNOW?) Of course we agreed on everything.

We took a nice walk near the water, beautiful weather . He brought his camera () but I anticipated that as well. Some stranger asked if we wanted her to take a picture of the 2 of us. So we said yes, and he held my hand then.

Then we went to his apartment. No, I did not have sex with him.

I'm so happy but unfortunately my mom ain't crazy about the age difference. (8 yrs) It also doesn't help that his birthday is tomorrow, so it'll be 9 yrs.

Stupid social taboos ruin relationships!

Update! My mom met him today. He came to pick me up and she arrived home from work at the same time. They spoke for a few seconds then I came out of the house and saw them standing there.

My mom likes him and he likes her. Good sign, eh?



Today was his birthday, by the way...and we had some fuuun.

It's simple - people who have such a vast age difference between them are at different stages of their lives, which is a big reason that it's not 'socially' acceptable. Once you hit a certain age, however, the differences are not so great anymore...

And who's to say the "age is only a number" mentality that seems to be taking hold is not the new stereotype?

I'm sorry if I didn't type IMHO after all that, but I thought it to be unnecessary, esp. after ian's brash statement sans the IMHO...

Natsume: Yes we r at different stages in our lives, but our stages r similar. He acts like a 27 year old and I act much older than 19. I don't enjoy the same activities other girls my age enjoy. The club scene was never for me and I don't enjoy loud places. I would much rather have tea at a bookstore and talk religion and politics. So far Younes is the only guy I've met who was like that.

Additionally, he is in college and so am I. He's finished up his Masters and is getting his PhD...I am working toward my Bachelor's. So we both have our eyes on getting a degree of one form our another. And we both want to travel all over the world.

So I'd say. social inhibitions should go out the window if you meet someone whose age might seem a bit weird to most people. A year ago I probably wouldn't have said the same thing but I've evolved a lot since then, many of my views have shifted completely...

I was simply trying to point out that under the "rules" set forth by Ian and Natsume, it would be acceptable for me to date a 16-year-old, because she would be only nine years younger than me, and I'm over the age of 23. But personally, I wouldn't do it.
