I've visited www.Rent-A-Negro.com and I think it's ingenious. Anyone who has ever been in Ms. Ayo's position of being fodder for non-blacks' curiosity can probably relate to the humor of the situation (and have probably thought "Damn, why didn't I think of that?"). It's a little sad that alot of us(black folks) weren't able to see the humor or at least allow for a little artistic expression without taking themselves too seriously (because she's the only person this *really* has to do with offending). Ms. Ayo is not responsible for the feelings of the entire black race. She is offering a tongue-in-cheek response to all of the people who may have offended her in the past. I applaud her for finding an inventive and creative way of dealing with the discomfort that sometimes comes from scrutiny (from inquisitive non-blacks). I have been in countless professional and social settings where I was the only BLACK PERSON and having to educate, explain, defend, define and represent an entire culture is quite burdensome if you let it be.

Any situation is 10% what actually happens. The remaining 90% is how you react and/or deal with it. I applaud Ms. Ayo's response to what could have turned into years of anger and resentmentment. Kudos to you, Damali Ayo.
