Barking Dogs

Does anybody live near a dog that barks incessently? I live in an apartment style condo, and there is a damn dog that barks morning noon and night (sometimes as early as 2:30 a.m.!). pissed This dog barks at every little noise, I think it probably even barks at its own damn shadow, which annoys the hell out of me. Talking to the owners about the problem is not an option, since they are as ignorant as the dog is. I am an animal lover, but whenever I hear this dog start barking, I soo want to go downstairs and kick it in the teeth. If you have a dog, it should be your duty to keep the dog quiet so that it's not disturbing others. There are things like muzzles and bark collars on the market for this purpose, and they should be used. I just needed to vent, because this has been going on for years and it really has me aggravated!

Shit I have these three little dogs that live next door to me that are always barking their head off, but I dont want to say anything to the neighbors cause they are very nice people and I dont want them to get mad at me, but even they admitted that their dogs do bark off the hook.

well for one Bark collars are terrible, cus it gives the dog a shock when it barks, and then when its shocked enough it knows not 2 bark anymore, but suppose an intruder, the dog would be scared to bark because of the shock 2 its neck.

best way to stop a dog from barking take a tin of loose change, and when the dog barks?..shake the tin, and it'll stop

maybe you should explain that to the owners of the dog to put a muzzle on it at night.

Well, maybe a bark collar is out of the question, but the dog definitely needs a muzzle or something to keep its damn trap shut. I would feel foolish going to the window downstairs shaking a loose can of change, hoping that would shut the dog up. Chances are, it probably would not work anyway with that ignorant animal. lol Like I said earlier, trying to talk to the neighbors about the problem is a waste of time, since they are assholes. I remember a few years ago when my dad knocked on the neighbors downstair's door to ask the neighbors a question, and the bitchy lady downstairs bitched at him and slammed the door in his face. omg pissed Needless to say, I avoid these assholes at any cost, it's not worth the trouble.

Didn't David Berkowitz snap from the constant barking of a neighbor's dog and finally kill the dog before he started his killing spree?

Well, the problem is that half the time they're not even home, so I don't even think they're aware of just how much their dog barks. sigh

Tsk tsk, y'all are so violent in the US... disbelief There are anti-barking collars that u fill with lemon juice (or in some cases water is enough), and when the dog barks it sprays a small dose of the liquid into the dog's face - completely harmless but not very nice for the dog. I never knew a dog it didn't work on.

Easy and no electrical currents involved, even though I know that most people "train" their dogs to obediance with electrical collars in the US mad Stupid cruel motherfuckers.

That’s why I’m out there havin’ fun again
Good puppy, good puppy
Rolling on over

Mazeltov,
The Gaza Boys,
All that holy stuff.
I got the feelin’ when it al goes off,
They’re gonna shoot the dog, they’re gonna shoot the dog

So, Cherie my dear,
Could you leave the way clear for sex tonight?
Tell him
“Tony Tony Tony, I know that your horny, but there’s
somethin bout that Bush ain’t right”

Nine nine nine gettin’ jiggy
People did you see that fire in the City?
It’s like we’re fresh out of democratic,
Gotta get yourself a little something semi-automatic yeahh

That’why I’m always gettin’ stoned yeah
That’s why I’m out there havin’ fun again
Good puppy, good puppy
Rolling on over for The Man...

The Ayatollah’s gettin’ bombed yeah,
See Seargeat Bilko havin fun again,
Good puppy, good puppy
Rollin on over for The Man...

I believe, I believe what the old man said
Tough I know that there’s no lord above
I belive in me, I believe in you
And you know I believe in love
I believe in truth though I lie a lot
I fell the pain from the push and shove
No matter what you put me through
I’ll still believe in love
And I say

Cherie Baby, Spliff up
I wanna kick back mama
And whatch the world cup whith ya baby
Yeah, That’s right!
We’re gettin freeky tonight
Stay whith me tonight
Let’s have some fun while Tony’s stateside

I did that already, I wrote a long letter to the president on the board of the condo where I live. I saw her a few weeks after I had sent the letter and she didn't seem to give a shit about it. She told me, "We get that everywhere." rolleyes rolleyes I felt like saying, "Oh thanks, you're a lot of help", in a sarcastic tone of voice. I also felt like telling her, "Well, that's easy for you to say, because you don't have to live with it, and I do." So it's a no-win situation, unfortunately. I have complained to several people about it already who I thought could do something to put an end to it, but it didn't do any good. rolleyes rolleyes

Maybe the dog doesn't like being left outside all night/day. It could be barking for some attention. Pets are not lawn ornaments.

This dog is not outside, it is inside when it starts yapping away. I have often thought that the dog could be looking for attention too, but they also have a cat in the house, so you would think that the cat would keep the dog company. I dunno. rolleyes shrug

why do we feel entitled to punish our dogs severely for our own inability to provide them with an appropriate environment? inflicting pain and suffering is ALWAYS wrong, no matter how "insignificant" we feel the object of the violence is.

how warped is it that, in our daily lives, we accept the suffering of other beings as part of our convenience. we don't care where our meat, dairy, eggs, clothing and shoes come from. we don't give a fuck how many animals had to suffer for us to have YET ANOTHER kind of shampoo. we couldn't care less how many immigrant workers get injured and killed working in our slaughter houses. just as long as our lives are nice and comfortable, and we can consume ourselves into oblivion. one day, we'll pay for our indifference. in the meantime, let's just beat the living hell out of our wives, kids and pets... who cares!

Hmmm, I tend to disagree with your last statement. I think with time and patience, a dog can be trained not to bark.
