To TATTOO or not to TATTOO..Please help! I have been contimplating getting a tattoo. For those of you with tattoos..what advice would you give? I hear some people regret it. Or once you get one you'll want another. Make sure the place is liscensed and uses clean needles, tattoo colour fading, price..etc. There are a couple ideas I have for a tattoo and where on my body to put it. But I would like your opinions or experiences good or bad on tattoos.
A couple ideas are.. 1. a treble clef on my arm 2. my last name in old english..maybe on my shoulder 3. a single initial on the back of my neck 4. praying hands with roses and the rosary hanging. 5. a merman or a mermaid...a small one my hip. I was thinking about a revised version of my profile pic.(look for yourselves ) Just the Merman and Mermaid. But I'm sure that would be costly and it would take up a lot of skin area! Thanks in advance, for your advice!

i've got 3 tattoos, and thinkin about a 4th one...

Um, my advice...stay away from #4 and 5!
If you're not sure, then most likely you're not ready. Keep contimplating until you definitely know. If not then yes, you'll probably regret it. If you wait until you have no doubts or questions whatsoever, then yes, you may want more after that They don't come off easily, seriously think it through.

I'm serious... I've been putting this off for far too long now... I can't think of a decent picture for which to brand myself forever.
Ideas anyone? |

one more peice of advice...make sure you dont end up with a tattoo artist who is heavy handed...your tat will be all scabbed and the color wont stay...so make sure you go to someone with several years of experience...not some newbie vi

I love, love, love tattoos, and the only thing keeping me from having a bunch more is that they are expensive.
However, you need to be really sure. Decide on a design, and then wait. Make sure you're still decided on it 6 months or a year later. If you're wavering, it's not the right design. The right one will come along. Find an artist whos work you like and who you're comfortable with. Specifically, who your comfortable saying "no" and/or "I don't really like that, can we try something different" and/or "let's redo that placement" or whatever. Super important. If you have to ask, you should probably think about it some more. If you go for it, post a pic!

My advice to you will just be a case of stating the obvious coz I'm sure you've thought such things through already. But just in case:
I say go for it Best obviously to find a tattoo artist that comes recommended from someone, or least an artist who can show you samples of his work.

In keeping with POOK's idea, I am SO glad that I taped that picture of Richard Stamos on my arm for a few weeks... all the beatings I took kept me from getting the tattoo. SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

I'd say no, don't do it.
I think it's absolutely wacky that some believe it's "cool" to have a permanent mark placed on their body as a means of self-expression. I mean really, it's not like you're buying "fine art" for your skin. If Francis Bacon or Picasso were alive and available as a tattoo artists, I'd kinda understand the desire to have a permanent mark from someone of their artistic stature. Generally, the stuff looks ridiculous, amateurish and derivative, and it leaves the wearer with greatly diminished credibility in the world of mature adults - that place where we inevitably spend most of our lives. Most people spend far less time deciding to get one of these markers of immaturity than they do trying to have them removed down the road. Why not try a temporary removable tattoo first? Better yet, find ways to express your individuality that are just a little more original and less faddish. Good luck! See you in the adult world soon...
