Help needed I have suffered two devastating blows in 24 hours. One girlfriend was diagnosed with breast cancer and came to me to tell me yesterday. They took the tumor but know now it has spread already. So they are going in after the lymph nodes next week.
The other has already gone through chemo and radiation a few years ago. She always lived in fear that it would come back. I told her, her fears were normal and she needed to let it go. Somehow she new in her heart that it was to return long before her hair did. Just last week for the first time she came in without her wig. A HUGE step for her. She envies my flowing hair and so wanted hers to return the same. She told me how much her back hurt the other day. I thought she was just being paranoid! We thought she tweaked something out but as It were the doctors have found it has mastitis. She was given chemo that day and again this week. In my heart I don't feel good about this. It's round three. Worse, I just set up for the first to be inspired by the 2nd. My heart is just broken. I feel as though I have just been ripped in two. She left me a message saying as if it were everyday, the chemo schedule. I can't stop crying. ( To know me is to know this is so not like me. Im generally a pillar of strength. I know not what to do or say. I need help an advice. Sorry to throw this at your feet but I don't know what else to do. Karen

AHHH Muse I feel your pain. My friend at work has a seven year old daughter who was diagnosed with a tumor in her brain last year and I see him suffer because of it daily. Keep your head up and stay strong. It's okay to let out your grief. Cry if you must cry. & LOVE to both of your friends! -------------------------------------------------

Karen
My horse back riding instructor, her name is Lillemor, who taught me everything I know about both riding and teaching others and in whose vein I continue, was diagnosed with breast cancer about two years ago. She wanted both breasts taken out immediately, but the doctors wouldn't so they took one. She went through chemo, lost so much weight, all her hair but never her spirit. She refused to wear a wig, she wore a bandana around her head. As soon as it was possible she rode her two horses and held her classes, her husband was right there beside her the entire time. After a time it was clear that they had not gotten everything out, so they removed the other breast and she went through the same procedure again, looking even worse but not caring, only looking forward. This past fall it was clear that it had not come back again, but she requested that her uterus and the lymph nodes be taken out all the same. The doctors complied and she is still healthy. Her hair, when it grew back out again, had changed colour into a lovely dark brown and there were beautiful curls in it as well. She is well and healthy today. I hope that u can find some reassurance in this story sweetie, that even though your second friend did not make it against a comeback, there's no reason friend number one cannot. All u can do is help them both look forward, be there for them and be yourself, with your flowing hair and all. Hugs to u Karen, we'll be here for u always. Jen

do your friends have really good support systems..? Do you have other people to sit down over lunch and just let it go..? How optiomistic are your friends about the treatments they are going to be getting..? I FEEL FOR YOU HONEY...!!! its so scary not knowing but feeling the worst will happen.

These were my sentiments exactly! Look at your spiritual center, and take strength from it...It's sometimes better to give over to that at times like this..The popsicles melt, you know? Stay well Karen. Ray
