I don't know if they sell pork rinds all over the country, but that's pig skin too, just fried. Sometimes they make snacks like this out of wheat, but ususally, these are pig skins too. Read the labels!

Yes, well I'm half because my dad is the Mexican one, my grandma was the one making all this crazy stuff in the kitchen. I was tricked into eating cow tongue when I was little by my grandma. It was lunchtime, and she prepared a sandwich for me. I thought it was some sort of regular meat inside, and I took a bite and could barely chew it it was so tough. The way I figured out it was tongue, was that I could feel the tastebuds of the tongue on my own tongue. Then I looked up, and my mom and grandma were in the corner just laughing at me! Real funny.

I just refused to eat the menudo and the brains though, so that's how I escaped eating most of it.

It's just a reminder that we are eating living things. I'm sure lots of people would loose their appetites if they knew what they were eating or how it was prepared. Then again, there are those that wouldn't be affected.

When I was little, we visited my uncle for a summer at his ranch. He had pigs and one morning he went out there and shot one, skinned it and cut it up. I was about 10, I think, so this is just a vague memory. I'm sure he used every bit of the pig, because he made chicharrones too (pork rinds aka fried pig skins).
