What's the deal with TB? I have to take a tuberculosis (sp?) clearance test today, for a job. Anyone ever had one done...or anyone ever been tested positive for TB? Just wondering... I hate going to the doctor damn it... When I was younger we always had to have TB tests... Never had TB though..
That just use to press this thing in our upper arm, and it would leave a scar.. ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

My sister got tested, and tested positive as a carrier of TB. In otherwords, she didn't have TB, but she could still spread it. She was treated for it with pills and subsequently got the job. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I never had TB (thank God!), but a friend of mine who used to work with me does volunteer work at a hospital. She has to go for a TB test, and then come back two days later to have it read. It annoys her, but all volunteers have to have this done before they could work at the hospital. They don't want the volunteers to give TB to any of the patients, which is understandable. TB sounds like a nasty disease. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I have to get tested every 6 months with work (for a hospital)...theres such a risk for exposure not knowing anyones background...If the exposure is caught early you take antibiotics for 6 months then youre ok..otherwise its not pretty I'm feelin kind of n-a-s-t-y
I might just take you home with me

TheResistor,
TB is a bacteria that is transmitted by air. The test is a series of pokes on your arm. If the site inflames and reddens then you have tested positive and will be put on antibiotics for 6 months. From that point on you will not have to test for TB again, but you'll probably be required to have chest xrays done periodically. My husband tested positive for TB. He took his meds and gets a chest xray done when he's asked to. It affects our life no more than that. TB is very difficult to manage if not caught quickly and treated effectively, so if you do test positive...take your meds. Best wishes to ya! I'm firmly planted in denial
