Eloping appeals to me very much. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I didn't... however, unknown to me, my mother-in-law offered my wife $2,000 for us to elope. I would have taken the cash and just gotten married before a judge, but Kim wanted the whole wedding experience. And I'll admit that it was nice to get both my mother's and father's sides of the family together in one place... I hadn't been to an event like that for fifteen years. i'm thinking of having just a few friends... and going to an island about 4 hours from our place to get married.. that way, there would still be the romantic side (the place i'm thinking of is absolutely beautiful) .. without the hassles

Y'know, being married wasn't much of a change for me, since we'd been living together for a year beforehand. Basically, she changed her name, we got a joint bank account, and we started filing joint tax returns. That was pretty much it. It's been almost three years... maybe it needs more time to sink in. Sorta. We decided to get married 2 weeks before we did, and we only told/invited my uncle, who was the 'reverend', and my parents and little sister. We all had Ring Pops during the 'ceremony' (basically, my uncle read some runes, which my hubby and I don't believe in, but whatever, it was cute) and went to our fav vegetarian place afterwards (Cafe Flora--www.cafeflora.com--mmm).
Dinner at fancy restaurant: $200 Ring Pops: $1.75 Universal Life Church reverendship: free Not having to plan a wedding: priceless. The only disadvantage? No shower, no wedding, very few gifts.
