I met David Copperfield at an autograph session after his shows twice. I left before his final performance and was the first in line both times. He chatted a bit with me as he sat down and got situated.

Sophie B Hawkins performed in a local plaza parking lot in 1995(6?). It was a small concert promoting her new album. My sister worked for the local radio station and we went back "stage" afterwards to say hi.

I almost forgot to mention that I also met (and did a few lines with, lol,) Chi Chi La Rue. She was sittin at the corner of the bar havin a drink after she performed and I walked over and asked her if she would like a treat. I really wanted to chat with her a bit about Prince because she used to hang with him a bit in the early 80s. She (he) is a famous drag queen and porn producer. She talked a little about Prince and how she used to have lunch with him, and basically said he was odd. Then she introduced me to one of her strippers lol.

I work freelance for a video poduction company in NYC. We do a shit load of celebrity interviews and stuff, so I get to meet everyone through that. Some other celebs I also met through my old job as an usher at Manhattan Center Studios/Hammerstein Ballroom, where they used to have a lot of parties. I would meet some in the elevator or I would sneak back stage and just walk up to people an say hello. I met Drew Barrymore that way and godamn was she cool.

As far as stories go, let's see...

When I met Sigourney, she was waiting downstairs for her ride and I just asked if I could get a picture with her. She agreed and I got the pic. She's tall as fuck by the way. Then I started asking her about the next Alien project (Alien Resurrection). She told me something about her character being cloned from a fingernail clipping or something. She was really talking to me a lot but then I was being called back to work, and I'm literally walking backwards as she continues to give me Alien info. I couldn't believe I had to walk away from her like that.

It was a trip meeting Gwen Stefani, cuz I really dig her. She came walking into the interview room, real "girly" like with the nails all done, high heels, and super-tight jeans. She gave me the softest handshake ever. I got to talk to her and Tom Dumont(guitar player) for a little bit about a show they did the night before. They were cool to chat with. I really wanted to get a picture with her, but the producer of the segment wasn't having it.

Queen Latifa was cool. Ater the interview, she pulled some fireworks out of the trunk of her car and started blasting them off in the street. It was July 5th and she said she missed her chance the night before.

Cindy C. was a bit of a cunt. My best friend used to buy her calendars religiously, so I decided to ask her if she had a new one coming out. With an almost snobbish attitude she says, "I'm a little too old to be doing calendars." then she see's Ricki Lake and gets all friendly with her. She just kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

P Ditty was cooler than I expected. After the interview for MTV he shook all our hands and thanked us. Then he fed the whole crew, and holy shit was the grub good. The peach pie was the best. He hooked us up.

I met Jerry Springer when I was working the coat check at a club downtown. He came walking in with two hot blondes. He only stayed for a few minutes, but we said hello and shit.

We shot a music video with Carly Simon in her house/ranch at Martha's Vineyard. She was mad cool. She's from the Bronx also, so we were talking about the hood, and even some people we both know. I even got to play some of her guitars and basses while we waited for the shots to get ready. She later signed a picture for me an my family, since they were big fans.

The Busta Rhymes experience was fun cuz I was in his video for the remix of "Ante Up" with M.O.P. and Remy Martin. I was just an extra, but I managed to appear in the video about 35 times. Busta had me in a kind of a headlock for one shot and we're bouncin around together. At then end I walked up to him and said, "Cool headlock man." then gave him a pound.

I met Howard Stern backstage at the Dysfunctional Family Picnic 2000 concert in Jersey. I walked up to him as he was talking to Cane, from K-Rock. I just told him I was a big fan and shook his hand. He didn't say a word, just gave me the look like, yeah, so what. I was a little annoyed, but I knew that's how he was, so my opnion of him didn't change. It was such a difference meeting Jackie Martling earlier cuz he was so damn friendly to all of us. Then 2 years later I met Fred Norris in the street. He was cool too. Now I just have to meet the rest of the Stern crew.

I met Mohammed Ali and Michael J. Fox at the same time when they were doing a photo shoot for the Parkinson's foundaton. Ali was cracking jokes and Mike was hugging everyone. I was actually chatting with Ali's wife and Mike's mom for a while. I was talking to them about Parkinson's cuz my dad has it. They were really supportive. Then later I got pictures wih Ali and Mike.

I met Tretch (Naughty By Nature) when I worked as a bouncer for a hip hop club downtown. He would be loaded when he came in so he was always real friendly. Once I had to take a small knife from him when I was doing the search. He didn't give me any shit and he got it back at then end of the night.

John Waters was also fun to meet. I met him at another club I was working as event manager. He was at the bar with some friends and I just introduced myself. I forgot what we talked about but he was real cool and friendly.

The Tom Cruise story is one of my favorites. We're set up in a fancy hotel room wating to interview him as the E! channel was presenting him with some award. He comes in about an hour late. There are a few crew guys standing by the door and I'm further in the back. Tom walks in, aologizes for being late, passes the guys that are closer, then walks straight to me, shakes my hand and says hello, then does the same to the rest of the guys. At then end of the interview, the crew starts joking with me saying, "Hey, Tom walked right over to you first, I think he likes you." This was of course when all that stupid "Is Tom Cruise gay?" shit was going on. he was mad cool though.

That's pretty much it. I've been lucky enough to meet all these folks and discover that they're actually really down to earth and not just a bunch of assholes.

Too lazy to list them... but I remember Morris Hayes (NPG), Larry Graham, and George W. Bush seeming very down-to-earth. Bill Clinton was also friendly, but seemed somewhat less than sincere, as if he were trying to sell me a used car. lol

Let's see...

I met Larry Graham in a hotel lobby after a Prince concert where Graham Central Station opened. My friend and I were unfamiliar with the city, and so we stopped at a hotel to ask directions to the club where they were holding the afterparty. As we were about to leave, we saw him and some other GCS folks at the lobby bar.

I met Penn Jillette (of Penn and Teller) at my law school graduation ceremony. (It turns out his girlfriend was one of my classmates.) We were lined up outside the room at the Indiana Convention Center where they were holding the ceremony, and when I first saw him, I thought, "Hey, that guy looks like Penn from Penn and Teller." Then I noticed that he had nail polish on one finger (a Penn trademark), and I figured he was some kind of die-hard fan. Finally his girlfriend started introducing him to people, and I realized that it really was him.

As for Bill Clinton (twice), Bob Dole, and George W. Bush... all at political rallies. Just get yourself a spot along the ropeline, even if you've got a lousy view of the podium, and you'll very likely get to meet them afterwards.

I talked to Morris Hayes at several Prince shows... he used to hang around the soundboard before concerts. I also encountered him a few times at Paisley Park events.

I have met very few...The one that stands out most in my head is Chris Rock
I met him while working in Midtown.. I was walking with a friend of mine on 5th Avenue.. And as we were walking he said Oh Nooo that is Chris Rock in front of us... He had 2 skinny body-guards walking with him... I lost site of them and as i was crossing 45th street and 5th avenue i turned and saw him standing right next to me.. He saw me look at him and i guess i must of been so nonchalant about it.. he was playing what looked like a game of peek a boo with me. He was making my laugh and I finally was like hey... (At this point i thought my friend was gonna go into convulsions).. He was like Chris Rock is RIGHT NEXT TO YOU AND SAID HELLO...
Although i got to say was hey... he seemed like a really cool guy!! But he has the worlds LONGEST FINGERS I HAVE EVEN SEEN..

YOU MET BONO? Oh lawd. That's one of the only people I can imagine meeting who might make me act like a damn fool. For that reason, I hope I never meet him, despite his 'very cool' rating.

The only celebrity I've met is Prince. He was mostly cool. It was a long discussion, so his coolness varied. smile

There aren't many celebrities I'd care to meet --I didn't even especially want to meet Prince, though in retrospect I'm happy I did-- but I would be curious to chat with Larry Graham.
