Same City, Different States...

I was looking at a thread today and wonder how many states have the same city names?

For example:
Warren, NJ
Warren, RI
Warren, MI

Just something to ponder and find out.

Ah yes... a skycap once accidently tagged my luggage for Portland, Oregon, instead of Portland, Maine. Good thing I know the airport code for the latter ("PWM") and caught the mistake before he loaded my luggage onto the conveyor belt.

I think a few more states have a Portland. I once read a mystery book whose solution hinged on the variety of Portlands.

Washington is the most popular city name. I believe 18 states have a Washington.

This is a little different...but.
Perth is a capital city in Australia and a town in the UK as well.
