eat all the meat and cheese or protein you want

BUT NO CARBS for the first 2 or 3 weeks

honey i fuckin love carbs...

THERE IS HOPE...!!!

the diet plan i got set up with allows 20 carbs a day

HOWEVER there is an ultra beer on the market that only has 2.3 carbs per bottle...

:W00T:

I might be able to pull it off

yeah i've done it for short periods of time...but i'm a sweet addict so i always fall off the wagon!

however if the diet is followed properly...carbs are introduced but its the fat content that worries me.

its meant to be so great but you know what...lets see in about 10 years time al the ppl who will then encounter major heart related problems due to the huge amount of fat consumed during the diet.

The Atkins diet is crap. If you're gonna insist on a fad low-carb diet, go with the Zone. It's healthier.

Better yet, go vegan. Good for your body, the planet, and the critters. smile

i have done this diet for short periods of time (1-2 weeks) and it works very well. i have only ever used it to lose small amounts quickly (for family gatherings, reunions, if i was going to see someone whom i haven't seen in a while, etc). i substitute the meat stuff with vegetarian items so the carbs are still low-zero but the fats are also unsaturated and better for your heart. the whole idea behind it is that in time you increase the amount of carbs you eat until you find a steady weight. then you stick with it. i have never done it for that long to get to that point. americans eat a lot of simple carbs but are not active...that's so bad. atkins doesn't count fiber carbs or carbs that don't effect blood sugar.

oh my god...i just went on and on about atkins... nuts

Rudy

my wife just started atkins this week

I'm not sure about pounds lost but she's definitely feeling trimmer, a bit more energetic, clothes fitting better, skin less oily in the morning (!)

I guess I can see positive aspects to atkins but I still think it's really a fad diet- but it has worked for friends of ours. I may give it a shot this summer, I could stand to eat about 90% fewer crap carbs as I do (soda, beer, white bread, junk)

It does work for short periods of time, so if you have something in the immediate future you wanna look slamming for, go ahead and do it.

However - and this is my personal opinion - it doesn't seem very healthy, and I would NEVER advise anyone to do it for an extended period of time.
I mean, like, where is the sun?

My parents have been doing it for a week now. I was gonna but then I found out you can only drink decaf coffee with heavy cream YUCK. I NEED coffee,in fact I was just telling my BF I think I should have an iv hooked up that pumps starbucks into my viens 24-7!

Well anyway,my parents are hell to live with but they say they lost wieght already.I don't think I can handle all of that,I'm moody and bitchy enough to begin with.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.
