So far, this program has been great. I'm composing this from the UK Library. This joint is more like a museum than a library, quite honestly, so much that until I saw the junky 1920s model IBM computers I was almost afraid to touch anything.

Soon, I should have the net in my dorm...

I'm working in the Sanders-Brown (I think...) Center for Aging. Basically, early on my time will be spent simply going through and correcting patient files. I'm working in the Alzheimer's research.

There is a program here called BRAiNS... Where "normal"...that is people without dimentia can donate their brains after they die. It's all really rather interesting. These people agree to donate, and then they get evaluations every 6 months up until they die.

Basically, some of the cool junk I'll get to do includes:
- Going to an autopsy when someone finally does die
- Sitting in on physicalys
- Going on patient visits
- Sitting in on the neurological evaluations.

The people in the center as a whole are really quite nice. I met a lot of people today, so many I can't remember all of their names quite honestly. My preceptor is a guy by the name of Dr. David something.

Anyways, beyond that, I'm currently at a computer in the library... a library nicer than any that I have ever been in (which perhaps isn't saying much considering where I come from...).

The problem seems to be eating so far. I've ate little since I've been here. Nothing on campus seems worth anything to eat, so tomorrow (since my Canadian won't be in until late, and thus I won't have a need to call him after I get off...) I'm goin' exploring. I'm going to hop on a bus and see where I wind up.

Oh, I get to write the buses for free because my badge from the med center serves as a sort of pass...

Anyways, until I feel like venturing here again, ADIOS!

Edit: After the patient dies, the program gets their brain to study. They also receive these things from Alzheimer's patients, but they need something to compare it all to, right?

I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but it's British custom to tip Librarians.

Just a couple of coppers (one or two pence) as it's the act not the amount that is important.

You should also say "Have one on me" which is a reference to Victorian times when you could only borrow one book at a time.
