Sammy Sosa's bat corked? Why not? By now I'm sure many of u have heard about Sammy Sosa getting ejected from last night's Cubs/Devil Rays game because they found cork in his bat after it shattered. So what? It's not like he hit a home run or anything. It was a little ground ball and that run would've scored anyway.
Why doesn't MLB just legalize cork? If it makes the ball go farther or whatever, then all that will do is bring more excitement 2 the game, and there4 more fans. Isn't that what the game really needs? Just as controversy in the music industry helps sell the music, cork in the bats will help sell the game. Think about it. Don't hate me 'cause I'm NOT beautiful

I presuem you are kidding or not a very big baseball fan. Maybe we should give them aluminum bats and watch someone hit 230 homeruns They have already almost ruined the game with the tiny little stadiums, steriods, and the juiced ball.
One of the cool things about baseball is that you are supposed to be able to compare yourself to people of the past and it's getting harder and harder to do that because of the reasons I gave above.

I don't know much about baseball but I believe that if you use a corked bat it makes the baseballs go further when you hit them. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

Moderator | As I said before I really don't know mush about baseball, or any sport really, but it seems like a dumb thing to do no matter what his reasons. He is obviously a talented player, he could not have accomplished all he has if he had no skill or talent. I don't care what his reasons were, if he was trying to comeback from an injury or make himself comparable to a hero of the past. He cheated, and was stupid about it. His respectability is now shot. Just as controversy in the music industry helps sell the music, cork in the bats will help sell the game. Think about it. Well, heck! Why not just legalize steroids. I think the thing is corked bats, steroids, and such give players an unfair advantage. (Speaking of unfair advantages let's get rid of the infield fly rule and the balk call, too!) Doesn't it seem a little unfair if someone with a bazillion HRs (I'm not talking Sosa here) were to make it into the Hall of Fame with the help of a corked bat or 'roids? I think real fans appreciate pure baseball.
