What Were You Listening To Twenty Years Ago?

1983... wow. What a year.

"Thriller" by Michael ('82 release, but went big in '83)

"1999" by Prince (another '82 release, but still heavily played in '83)

I remember... Oingo Boingo, Wall Of Voodoo, The Romantics, Michael McDonald, Devo, A Flock of Seagulls, General Public, Missing Persons, The Fixx, Squeeze, Thomas Dolby, Thompson Twins, Gary Numan, Elvis Costello, Men At Work, REO Speedwagon, Toto, Tommy Tutone... nod

What a great decade of music. mr.green

Wow, indeed.

I was pretty much an MTV junkie at that point. Thriller & 1999 were biggies. Duran Duran, too.

Whatever was on MTV and Washington's 97.1, WASH-FM, as it was then.

Anxiety

All I can remember is listening to MJ's "Thriller" a lot, listening to a lot of Beatles and Jimi Hendrix, and listening to ELO and the "Xanadu" soundtrack.

In '83, it was my senior year in high school, I was enthralled with this new channel... MTV? Music Television? Cool... "I want my MTV"

I remember all the British groups coming over, cuz America didn't have anyone doing videos... and the Brits had plenty... so we got all these new groups to check out simply for the fact that America was unprepared for the video market.

It was a cool way to spend the day... watching music videos, and only music videos... now it's all Real World and Jackass type shit... before, it was just videos and JJ Jackson, Martha Quinn, Nina Blackheart, Mark Goodman and that guy with the blonde mullet... lol
