Bt what the hell, I do it anyway, cause u don't have to wear any clothes, and I hate clothes, so there's good reason not to wear any. lol
It's a good start, just 1-2 hours a day and u'll b there in a week!

Yeah it should take about a week to get there, all I have to do is put on some baby oil and I can pretty much tan from there.

Is baby oil good for tannin?
I should try then... lol

It does the trick for me. nod

Baby Oil is bad! no no no!

Why's it so bad?

It only moisturises and doesnt protect and will aid to burning your skin...kinda like lard and aluminium foil back in the old days lol

It never burns my skin.

It depends on what your natural skin tone is, but Baby Oil is REALLY bad. You just fry with that stuff, and even if you don't burn badly, you never know how the sun will affect you years down the road.

My mother was always really careful in the sun after she hit her 20's, and always covered up with hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen, yet a couple of years ago she was diagnosed with skin cancer.

They say all it takes to trigger skin cancer is tanning a lot when you are younger and not taking precautions (like using baby oil instead of sunscreen) to prevent sun damage. These things alone can creep up on you later on. Even if you've been really badly sunburned once in your life, that highly increases your chances of developing skin cancer years from now.

My mother has memories of being badly burned when she was little when no one used sunscreen, and her doctors think this may have been the cause of her getting malignant melanoma. She had it all removed (we hope) but she has to go in every year for a body scan to check if it's spread.

I love to hang out in the sun as well, but I'm a sunscreen nut now, and worry about myself from time to time because I had some really bad sunburns a long time ago; like 2nd degree burn bad.

Yeah but doesn't it take longer to tan when you use something with a sunscreen in it?

Yep.

Well no sunscreen for me. disbelief

Then you are one of the lucky ones I guess. It also depends on if you already have a dark skin tone. Are you dark skinned anyway?

My legs are almost impossible to get really tan. I could probaly lay out for hous and get no color. But then, I do use SPF 30 and higher usually, so at least I know it's working! lol

I use fake tanner on my legs and the places that are hard to tan... So much easier than sitting and ruining your skin. I love the sun...but it is so harmful!

I think I've used that before. I'm always on this crusade to find the perfect self-tanner. A couple of years ago, Guerlain made this really great tinted one that smelled like chocolate. It was so good, looked real, and you didn't get that weird smell after it developed. I've been looking for more, but I'm pretty sure they discontinued it after that one season. I'm pissed. Maybe I'll try the Clarins.

If I go out in the sun, I burn, blister, and peel right back to my natural pasty-white-Seattle-native state.

The good news is, all of the white folks around here look just like me, so it's fine. It's pretty damn funny to see people on the first few days of hot weather around here. First, everybody in their new shorts have glaring white legs. You can hardly look at them without being blinded. Then, the next hot day, all of that white skin has turned beet red. Then, the next hot day, it is all peeling. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Here in Holland, the second the sun comes out when it's warm out, EVERYONE is out laying in the sun. I was riding my bike around the other day and looking at people thinking, "How is it that everyone's so tan already. They are like leathery tan already and it's only the beginning of June. Although, tanning beds are still very popular here, so I think a lot of people get a head start using those.

Answer to getting a nice healthy glow without having skin cancer, wrinkles, dry skin...fake tan. If u get a good quality (u no the kind that doesn't rub off and isn't the colour of tandoori chicken) it does the trick...and u can use it all over.

I'm lucky in one way cuz I have brown skin...but my legs are always about 10 shades lighter than my arms and face because they have had no exposure 2 the sun all winter! So 4 the first parts of summer I have 2 use some sort of tanner on my legs otherwise I look kinda wierd...wink

Laying out in the sun too much will kill you and if it doesn't kill you it will give you skin cancer. A close member of my family has it from laying in the sun for years. If you are going to do it, make sure you wear sun block because if you don't your skin will look like a crater by the time you're 50. Sure, having a tan makes us look healthy and sexy but in the long run it leaves you looking like a dried up old prune. no no no!

Especially since people were talking about using baby oil to get a darker tan. I thought people stopped doing that a long time ago.
