TANNING

Damn I swear sun tanning is such hard work, you have to lay out in the sun for atleast a half an hour sweating your ass off just to get a little darker, but I'm just going to take it one day at a time, it'll get there adventually. Who else here likes to lay out in the sun?

OOOH I love me some tan! I went tanning before going on vacation...but now I'm pale again. I think having a tan is great for self confidence...especially when you're trying on clothes and looking at yourself in those awful mirrors.

A tan makes everything better.

I don't like it, it's so damn hot!
Bt what the hell, I do it anyway, cause u don't have to wear any clothes, and I hate clothes, so there's good reason not to wear any. lol
It's a good start, just 1-2 hours a day and u'll b there in a week!

Yeah it should take about a week to get there, all I have to do is put on some baby oil and I can pretty much tan from there.

What is the ideal shade when tanning? I've always wondered about that.

I burn and then it turns into a tan. It's lovely. I like to be a little darker than normal.
I mean, like, where is the sun?

Like, Halle Berry's shade?
Salma Hayek's?
Janet Jackson's?
Angela Bassett's?
Tracy Chapman's?

How dark would "too dark" be?

I have skin cancer scars on my back from being out in the sun for normal activities...walking from my house to the car...running to the store ect. Tanning may very well kill me had I ever done it or decided to in the future.

It never burns my skin.

It depends on what your natural skin tone is, but Baby Oil is REALLY bad. You just fry with that stuff, and even if you don't burn badly, you never know how the sun will affect you years down the road.

My mother was always really careful in the sun after she hit her 20's, and always covered up with hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen, yet a couple of years ago she was diagnosed with skin cancer.

They say all it takes to trigger skin cancer is tanning a lot when you are younger and not taking precautions (like using baby oil instead of sunscreen) to prevent sun damage. These things alone can creep up on you later on. Even if you've been really badly sunburned once in your life, that highly increases your chances of developing skin cancer years from now.

My mother has memories of being badly burned when she was little when no one used sunscreen, and her doctors think this may have been the cause of her getting malignant melanoma. She had it all removed (we hope) but she has to go in every year for a body scan to check if it's spread.

I love to hang out in the sun as well, but I'm a sunscreen nut now, and worry about myself from time to time because I had some really bad sunburns a long time ago; like 2nd degree burn bad.

Yeah but doesn't it take longer to tan when you use something with a sunscreen in it?
