Curbside Recycling... I LOVE IT! The city I live in has curbside recycling and a separate pick-up for yard waste (grass clippings, etc.)
It makes it so easy to be green Anyone else's city have similar, or cooler programs?

There's been some studies in the UK recently that showed that a lot of recycling programmes here are actually just "feelgood factor"... a lot of the waste ends up going to landfill and incinerators regardless Also, it annoys me that a lot of the recycling programmes only go half way... so you can recycle paper, and glass, green glass, brown glass etc, but the various types of plastics aren't catered for properly in most areas.
Anyway I'm for recycling in general but one of these days I'd love to follow the recycled refuse disposal truck and see where it goes... the cynical side of me says they'll just burn the fucking lot anyway

So, that gives me hope. Also, they're very picky about that they'll take and what they won't, so I think it's legit.

It makes it so easy to be green Anyone else's city have similar, or cooler programs? When I lived in Bloomington, Indiana, we had a program just like that. The city gives every household a plastic recyclables bin and picks up recyclables weekly for free. As an incentive to recycle, each bag of trash must have a $1 sticker affixed to it. We also had a yard waste recycling program, which required a 25-cent sticker per bag. I don't know whether the City of Indianapolis has curbside recycling. Since I moved here, I've always lived in apartment buildings, which do not receive city trash service. There's a recyclables drop-off station downtown at the supermarket where I shop, but alas, I'm too lazy, so I just throw everything in the trash. Sorry. Actually, there is one thing I do recycle: the mercury cell batteries that power my watch. They've been illegal to manufacture for several years due to environmental concerns, so I figure that it wouldn't be a good idea to dispose of them in the trash. We have curbside recycling here, and it is great. It annoys me sometimes when they select certain types of plastic that is not acceptable and leave it behind (even though it may have the recycling symbol stamped right on it). By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I love my local recycling centre.
If I can get enough wine bottles, I can scrape enough dregs together for a whole glass! Cheers
