Anne Rice

Does anybody here read her books? I am waiting patiently for the new one. She is one of my favorite authors, I love her off the beaten track novels and I love the research she does. comments???

I used to follow her work religiously (lots of fun IMO) but then I realized she kept writing the same book...apparently she will be releasing her final book this fall...the last time we'll get to read about Lestat...her website states that since the death of her husband, the poet Stan Rice, she's ready to put the horror genre aside and do something else...

P.S. A miniseries on The Lives of the Mayfair Witches is being planned for NBC...

I don't read much at all, but for some reason, I had to read Interview with a Vampire before seeing the movie. I loved it so much!!! I read Lestat and started Queen of the Damned, but never finished.

I went on a binge though, and bought almost all of them at that time, as well as the compendiums. I read a little of Cry to Heaven too, and I have the Sleeping Beauty nasty stories, kinda thumbed through those...

She's awesome. What's your favorite book by her?

I've read a few of her books. I love the erotic adventures of sleeping beauty and the one about the children's author and his affair with the little girl. The vampire chronicles kinda bored me, Queen of the damned wasn't that bad though.

Ohhh Ohh and Merrick was really good!

Dean Koontz is my fave he came out with a new book this week. The Face, I'ma pick it up this weekend.

God I'm such a nerd! I read way 2 many books!

I've read the Beauty Trilogy and Exit to Eden and enjoyed them both, but I picked up Interview with A Vampire around 10 years ago and just couldn't finish it. I thought it was boring. I read a novel she wrote about a castrotti (if that's spelled right?) some years back that I enjoyed, but haven't bothered much to look for more.

Oooh, I just found her website and it's very nice. I like how she interacts with her fans, kinda like TTD.

For a few years in the mid 90s I was SOOO into Anne Rice. Bought and read everything I could by and about her.

Then I kind of drifted away, and a couple years ago I went back and tried to reread one of the Vampire Chronicles books and could barely make it through the first couple chapters. For some reason I now can't handle her overly flowery, poetic writing style. Just was TOO MUCH.

I dunno. Maybe in a few years I'll be able to get into her writing again.

I like Dean Kootntz too but it's weird seeing the current photographs of him on his recent books where nowadays he sports a full head of hair (vs his balding head from a few years back)! biggrin lol

That would be CRY TO HEAVEN and it was a bit too pornographic for my tastes...I'm no prude mind you...but I completely lost all belief when the Castrati is getting fucked by Cardinals and Bishops and such...I'd rather pop in a porn...

But by far my favorites from Anne Rice are The Witching Hour and The Feast of All Saints...

Cry to Heaven...I like the Mayfairs better than the Vampires but now she's mixed them all together..Feast of All Saints is awesome too. Exit to Eden the book is NOTHING like the movie.

Her son Christopher has 2 good books too. I like them. Snow Garden is one...about murder and gay affairs at a college and the other one Density of Souls is about 3 4 child hood friends...I love that it is set in New Orleans.

check them out!

Last book I read from her was Vittorio The Vampire.

This book is unrelated to The Chronicles and I really enjoyed it. It was new and fresh. It was kinda short but that was okay. I think it would make a good movie if done right.
