"Mike Tyson hasn't lost his penchant for saying the outrageous.


In a television interview scheduled for broadcast Thursday, Tyson again denied he raped Desiree Washington in 1991 in an Indianapolis hotel room. But he said the burden of being labeled a convicted rapist makes him want to do it now.


"I just hate her guts. She put me in that state, where I don't know,'' Tyson said. "I really wish I did now. But now I really do want to rape her.''


Tyson made the comments during a recent interview in Miami Beach with Greta Van Susteren, who was taking a look back at the circumstances of Tyson's 1992 trial that ended with him convicted of rape and sentenced to six years in prison.


He served three years of the sentence before being released on parole.


A call for comment to Tyson's adviser, Shelly Finkel, was not immediately returned.


The interview will be shown Thursday night on "The Pulse'' on the Fox network."

He has a long history of these kinds of quotes, so there is a real possibility that it is true.

He really is a troubled man though... I know what you were saying. It is funny because he is so intelligent at times and at other times he goes another direction entirely. Maybe he is just trying to generate a "buzz," but maybe he isn't. It is hard to say with Tyson.

Now for the "understanding" interpretation of Mike Tyson's comment:

Maybe he is trying to say that he is tired of being stigmatized by a lie and that he would do it now because he would be accused of it anyway and people would never believe that he didn't do it. He cannot escape the lie that was told about him so he wishes that it was true so that it wouldn't hurt so much.

Most interviews that are shown will focus on making him seem like a nut... I have seen a good number of interviews where he seemed quite intelligent... it is not like he is a professor or anything, but he can be pretty smart. He is also a boxing historian and knows more about the history of boxing and the great boxers in history than most people in the boxing world. I have a tape of him talking about all the great fights and fighters from history where he is being asked questions about various things and he is right on point and knows everything.

He can also be a compassionate person, but he seems to be confused and consumed by rage most of the time. Fame can really fuck with you, I suppose... not that he was a nice guy when Cus D'Amato took him in when he was released from reform school... Tyson was a street criminal and was destined for prison. He is not an educated man and he has been taken advantage of by many people in the boxing world, most notably Don King, and he has a great deal of anger at them as well.

Even with all this, there are times when he will sit down and talk with people and say things that are insightful... too bad that it doesn't happen very often and it doesn't get any press.
