Modern art....arse i refer to the kind of modern art that has pretrentious artists submit a white sheet with a dot in the middle, it goes on display at the tate and pretentious posh morons stand there syaing "ya ya i see the pain in this existential masterpiece, i think ill buy it...1000 grand seems a bargain..what, do you agree tristram?
arse, biggest bunch of arse ever. its the emperors new clothes, these toffs are too scared to admit they dont get it to thier eqauly toffee nosed mates. the only art here is how the "artist" has messed with peoples heads, its mental art if u like, this guy in new zeland entered a collection of beer crates in the shape of a letter t, after he won the prize he said " i did it 4 a laugh, just to see if you all fell 4 it" now thats art. dont get me wrong, i dont merely like accurate painting of churches and rivers and shit like that, but that is real talent, i like the abstarct stuff but smearing your own faeces on a white painted wall is not fuckin art. art doesn't stop at the ceiling of the sistine chapel, son. it has many forms, includin modern art. perhaps u ain't that open 2 interpretation...i'm not sayin that u should be like the super-prissy folks that you've mentioned above and u gotta find out what the texture of a certain piece of art represents...just look at it and think about it.

Is It Art or Is It Crap?
e-Vent - October 10, 1999 By Al Menconi http://www.almenconi.com/...vent6.html New York's Brooklyn Museum of Art has a controversial exhibit of shock art, which includes a painting of the Virgin Mary smeared with elephant dung. The exhibit is entitled "Sensations," but New York Mayor Rudolph Giulliani and other moral leaders label it "sick." There is a public debate asking if it is appropriate to use public funds to mock religious symbols. People across America are lining up on each side of this issue. Why should public funds be used to desecrate symbols of any religion and call it art? On the other hand, it is illegal to have a nativity scene or a cross on public property because it might offend an atheist. I have a suggestion. The next time someone wants to display a nativity scene at Christmas time, they should put cow dung from the manger on Mary and Joseph's sandals and call it art. Let's see the ACLU take that case to court. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Louisa Bufardeci- The Art of Good Reasoning adapted statistical information, quotations and case studies from the 100 submissions to the Senate Legal and Constitutional References Committee for the Committees inquiry into the Human Rights (Mandatory Sentencing of Juvenile Offenders) Bill 1999. In a stark convenience store-style environment, the sweet aroma of lollies enticed the viewer into the space. Each of the fifty-two bowls illustrates a statistic with the volume of lollies representing the particular statistic in percentage terms. At the bottom of each bowl a case study or quote is present. In order to see this, the viewer often has to push the lollies in that bowl aside. The temptation to eat (steal) a lolly is further galvanized by this physical interaction with the lollies. I like this one! .

i think the weirdest art(?) i've seen was the beaded kitchen. yes, beaded. every. single. surface. covered. with. tiny. beads. inside and out of the oven, the cornflakes box, knives, forks, everything beaded. it took the lady 5 yrs to complete. . . very pretty but kinda. . . odd. can't figure out if it's art or obsession, or if a line can even be drawn

it was gorgeous! we couldn't figure out what had inspired her to begin, but we all admired her perseverence. i'd never before seen a kitchen so gem-like. glowed like a jewel, all of it.
i think in truth art is in the eye of the beholder. a single dot on a canvas could be art, perhaps depending on its execution you know that zen garden in kyoto? the one with the rocks in gravel, symbolizing islands in the sea, set there for meditation. i had the experience of overhearing a tourist, (upon seeing this garden for the first time), exclaim at the top of her voice "you mean this is IT? you call this a GARDEN? the guide book says it's a ROCK garden. THIS is just a bunch of gravel. . " interesting because some people look at it and see a universe and others just see just gravel

(i say this as i am not original but this is cos i dont have the resources i need). i find modern art pathetic and delapidated u can get away with anything by producing nothing... jus' think there was that one last year it was just a white square room with a blinking light in it? wtf? how is that art? this is one thing that really annoys me!!! JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...
