This youngster hasn't even bounced a basketball in the NBA and Nike just signed a 90 million dollar contract with him for the next seven years. Is he worth it?

He's worth whatever the market will bear. This is America right?

Not related to a shoe contract but I will tell you that whatever team he ends up playing for will see attendance jump big time meaning that whatever they pay him they will see back in spades.

I'm kinda hoping that a good team wins the lottery so he can spend a couple of years on the bench learning the ropes with minimal PT and becomes really bitter and never reaches his potential. evillol

I honestly think it is disgusting that an entire sporting community gan be drooling over an 18 yr old CHILD.

The type of hype he's garnering makes it nearly
impossible for him to live up to expectations.
At least as a player with nothing more than
high school ball experience under his belt.

Kobe doesn't even have a shoe contract if I'm not mistaken. I heard hee over-estimated his value and hasn't gotten a strong offer yet.

Kobe has to wait till july when he will probably sign with Nike/Jordan Brand and might take over the Jumpman side of things. He has to wait cos of the whole Adidas contract thing. But he doesn't fit in well with the urban youth though. He aint gangsta like Lebron.lol

Cleveland won the lottery and immediately held up a jersey with his name on it. I guess he is staying home in Ohio.

Dang, they made a jersey already? Well, I suppose the Cavs will stop losing on purpose now!! The player making a mockery of society signed by a team which made a mockery of the game toward the end of the season.

Sadly, I believe it's possible he is worth it. Given the initial publicity push he will likely get, he will help Nike sell quite a few sneakers, shirts, caps, etc. If he turns out to be half the player people claim he'll be, then over time, Nike will make that money back and then some.

It's gonna be tough on him, though. Every player he comes up against is gonna have an az to grind because of his early fortune and pub. I'd say 2 years from now, he'll be pretty good. In 5 years, he'll be very good.
