Memorial Day

For me, it's more than just the start of the summer season and an extra day off...it's a time when I think about my loved ones and their sacrifice to the service of this country (and other countries too.)

My father was in the U.S. Army during WWII...he fought in France and was a guard during the Nuremberg trials. He always had a story to tell.

My grandfather fought during WWII in the Austro-Hungarian Army.

My sweetie is a former full-time Air Force guy and now is in the reserves.
The military life is a big sacrifice and I'm proud of all of them.

Any words on your loved ones in the military?

Hmmm, my father was a marine in Vietnam...that's about all I have for family in the military. I guess we're a bunch of pussies!

But I salute your family Apples!

I think about my friend Jay who died while preparing to take the BUDs exam for the SEALs. This was about two years ago now. I remember how we would talk about trying out for BUDs together and a part of me feels responsible in a way for his death. I feel as if I had a part in planting that idea in his head. If I didn't he'd be alive today. He was 26.
