Hands up those of you who can stand in a bar or pub without a drink, on your own, and look comfortable.

I'm not sure I can. If I have a drink I feel more comfortable. Then there's always the mobile phone. That's definitely a place of refuge for the uncomfortable, waiting loner.

Look at me, I'm texting someone. Busy, busy, busy. nod

I mean, like, where is the sun?

Sorry my dear. No cigarettes, mobile phones, drinks, food etc.

In fact, u're allowed no items whatsoever in your hands.

So why is it so hard to just stand and wait in a bar?

No less than 3 minutes. If u knew it was to be less than that you wouldn't feel discomfort.

Perhaps about 11 minutes. That'd be uncomfortable enough. Do you think you would be alright feathers?

I think that perhaps YOU in particular would because you would be able to amuse yourself with something. Either playing a game with the patterns on the wallpaper, or maybe just people watching. Others wouldn't fare so well.

i wouldn't mind too much actually...there'll always be another unconfortable loner somewhere around and if worse comes to worse you could always stand next to him and pretend you're friends...

That's like going to a movie theatre and reading a book instead of watching the movie. Of course people are gonna look at you funny, they may even assume you're broke.

Well it's difficult to stand alone anywhere...if you are the only one who is alone.
When I went to clubs when dating my fiancee I always had a cola on the rocks
so I would fit in. I am a square .
So...how's everybody doing? smile

But a club is different than a bar. I feel perfectly comfortable standing alone on the side of the dance floor watching people. Or dancing by myself for that matter.

But standing in a bar or pub alone, not doing anything at all? Well, that's different. Who goes to a bar or pub and just stands there alone anyway?

There's lots of non alchoholic things you can order at a bar, perrier, bottled water, pop, red bull, cranberry juice, whatever. Its not uncommon to order them. My friends and I usually start ordering non alchoholic drinks towards the end of the night and dance to sober up. As long as you tip the bartenders, I dont think they care what you order lol.

Don't smoke, don't drink...that much. They give me a beer, it will sit there, unused or barely touched, wasted on me.

Vodka, yes, but not so much. I just enjoy the music. That's my high. Could CARE LESS about what the other bar fly's think. Stare at me? Stare at them back, or ignore 'em. Do not care.

If it's not a New Power Party, it's not a party.

I don't know u as such, but I had a fair idea about u in this particular situation. People give off a kind of vibe, which isn't even close to their whole personality. Rather, it's more of a taster.

I've been drinking at bars my whole life. I have cut way back on alcohol so i would say i am getting there.

I also go to the cinema, clubbing, anything actually on my own. It doesn't bother me going somewhere alone.
