STRAIGHT / BI GUYS AND LESBIANS: DENTAL DAMNS?

HEY PEOPLES>

(so much for me tryna get outta my addiction)

I really need info here.

My friend has never been with a woman. He's 34. I'd say it's time...

He and I have been having "relations" for a few months now.

I suggested that we bring a girl into the mix to break him in. It took some convincing, but now he's down for it.

I've been with women before and I enjoy goin down on them.

I want him to be open to the idea of doing it.

He's really concerned about "getting something" while in the process of doing it.

He suggested we use dental damns.

I've heard of them but know nothing about them.

Can someone please give me the low down on them.

1. where do i get them
2. how do i use them
3. do girls mind if you use them
4. is it all that safe anyway
5. is this even the right name for them

thanx guys!

If you go to your local public health clinic they should have some. I dont know what their medical name is, I always thought the term "dental dams" was a slang term for them.

A friend of mine passes out condoms to the gay bars. He used to also pass out dental dams, but there wasnt much of a demand for them.

They really are just a sheet of rubber.

Dental dam is indeed the correct term.

Dental dams are a thin sheet of latex placed over the vagina and/or anus during oral sex to prevent the transmission of disease during oral sex.

www.memailorder.com/Glyderng.htm sells scented colored ones, there are many varieties at many other sites. I can hunt a few more sites down if you'd like

Dental dams are an excellent preventor of disease when used correctly.
1.Rinse the dam with warm water
2.Dry with a lint free towel
3.Check the dam for holes or breakage by holding up the dam to a strong light, or seeing if any water passes through the latex.
4.Make sure only one side of the dam comes in contact with your partners genital and that each dam is only used once.

Dental dams do created a slightly different sensation, which is not always a bad thing. However for additional sensation to you partner use some water based lube (such as astroglide) on their genitals before placing the dam on the area. Do NOT use oil based lubes(such as Vaseline) as they cause breakage.

Depending on what is more comfortable for you both the giver can hold the dam in place while performing oral sex (so the reciever can just lie back and enjoy) or the reciever can hold the damn in place themselves. There are also dental dams w/ self adhesive strips on the market also.
Any other safer sex info you may need feel free to orgnote.
Hope this helps though. Glad to see you are being really safe and responsible in your choices.

No I've never used them.
From what I hear from people I know that do used them, the sensation is enjoyable but slightly different.
They are NOT reusable.

When I was in college, there was a drugstore by some of the dorms that sold them. The dental dams were shelved by the condoms (and related items). But other than that, I've never seen them in a store. So I'd suggest just ordering them online. Or, if you've got a medical/dental supply store near you, maybe you could get them there.

One other idea... ask your dentist where he or she gets them. smile

I've "heard" you can, but I believe it's more porous than latex, so is not as good in the prevention department, so why bother? You could also cut a condom down the side so it's flat and use that, but I believe a dental dam would be bigger and cover more area.

Anyone ever seen a female condom? They're so weird! I can't imagine using one.

You can use non-microwavable saran wrap and it will be just fine.

Or cut a condom into a square.

Actually...in a pinch, you COULD use a condom...just cut the end off and slit it down one of the sides..VOILA!!

Some come in wrappers, like condoms do smile Others come in baggies.

As far as flavors...try the cherry/vanilla wink
