I got carded buying my ticket to see The Matrix - WTF as I am 28! I went to a 12:30 showing of The Matrix and the young punk working the ticketbooth asked for my ID when I asked for my ticket. The thing that makes this so unusual is that I am 28 years old for the love of God.
I wasn't really pissed as much as I was amused as I have been buying tickets to R rated movies since I was about 12 years old and they finally asked for ID now. I was actually a little flattered as none of my friends were askef for ID and they are all my age. As for the movie...Confusing it was, but I think I liked it. I just thought this was a funny moment so I decided to start a thread...feel free to get back to your regularly scheduled threads. . I enjoyed the movie...I'm purchasing a copy.
They threw every argument, counterargument, philosophy, theory, fantasy, fable, nursery rhyme and treaty they could into it. A bit much to take in all at once. They left something out, though, IMO. But I ain't talking yet until more peeps have had a chance to see it. Oh, and I didn't get carded at the movie, but I'm always carded at the grocery store. Go figure... | |

For some reason, they never ask for ID at the movie theaters here in Indy. Dunno why.
On a somewhat related note... Sunday night we went out to dinner, and I ordered a glass of wine. The waiter asked if he could see my "license"--obviously this was a poorly-phrased request for ID to verify my age. (I wasn't going to drive my car in the restaurant.) I jokingly asked him which license he wanted to see: my license to drive or my license to practice law. Maybe next time I'll just say I never learned how to drive and offer something like my passport or Maine state identification card.
