This is sad, but not has horrifing as the extinction of the African family and the civilization that once existed for hundreds of thousands of years. Maybe if we started to put people first, everything else would fall in line.

From the article:
" Fishing depletes food sources, coastal habitats are damaged by development, and new types of military sonar can apparently cause lethal damage to deep-diving cetaceans"

Anyone remember when in the news they were talking about how the military used Dolphins in the Navy for military operations. Strapping shit on them and using them for military purposes...

They made it seem like the dolphins enjoyed it and how heroic of the creatures to defend our freedom...well the truth is in the details as noted above.

How about saving them rather than using them as instruments of war.

2 years ago was the first time I headed to Boston to go whale watching.

I can't put into words what a beautiful experience it was.

Very humbling to say the least.

Although, I just went whale watching and saw three sperm whales in the wild, and also a pod of about 300 dolphins were doing flips and playing around our boat. That was such an amazing experience!

Unfortunately as long as there is profit to be made, the fate and wellbeing of other species is unimportant. The people who fish and put the lives of endangered species at risk do so because of the need to support their families. Perhaps another reason may be that fishing may be the only resource available to provide income for these people. In addition, the fishing industry like all industries will continue their practices as long as the demand for them exists. In the end it always comes down to money and profit.

Sorry but fuck people (whatever nationality, race or civilization) there are far more than enough of them on this planet...
It's far more important to stop the extinction of animals and their habitat on this planet than the ever growing parasites called humans...
I'd much rather see some virus killing off millions of humans than seeing some sick fuck killing off whales for fucking money...

No it's not people that causes extinction, it's greed. There is a difference.

You telling me that all those starving & sick children are not deserving your sympathy or should not be placed on your save the whatever priority list? You'd rather save a whale or dolphin than a starving child? confuse

I do know, people come first in the saving department. Especially those who have been victimized by greed.

Hmmm, I know that's really sad & all, but (please don't hate me, I'm just telling the truth) I can't bring myself 2 care even 1 little bit. Just like the whole rain forest issue, it's sad, but I just don't care.

see this is what i'm saying.

PURPLEJ knows this shit is happening and doesn't give a *uck
(i'm not judging you , just using you as an example)

how many PURPLEJ's do we have in office, making laws, running the show?

people that are just indifferent to the issue.

alot of people feel like, well, what have dolphins done for ME lately?

ALOT.

then there are people like BLackCAT.
(not judging you either, just using your post for example)

BLACKC wants to save all the african children to be saved.

I agree with you. ALL the children in this world should have the opportunity to a healthy life.

HEREIN lies the situation.

We as humans of course want for our species to continue.
I suppose we're programmed that way.

But does that mean that we need to be placed any higher on the "save the whatever priority list"?

why should any other animal or species be less deserving of our help when WE are the reason they face extinction.

for the sake of argument, YES, if I had a dying dolphin in front of me and a dying child, my instinct would tell me to help the dying child first.

does that make me a bad person, i don't think so.

BUT i think we all need to really look at why there are so many animals that are extinct or left without homes.

Eh, be straight up just say what you mean, not this twisting of thoughts. You better be careful with talk like this, it'll confuse the shit out you dog.lol

It's simple pimpdoutt, cause we don't care about people, or shall I say "other" people. History proves it. And if people don't care about people, how in the hell can you expect people to care about whales, or dolphins or whatever. This is what I'm saying. It's like that old saying "the shoemaker's kids don't have no shoes".
I see a step being skipped here. First yo house then your neighbor's house or whatever.

good summary, pimpdoutt!

I think that TRUE compassion involves supporting policies that protect human AND non-human life. In theory, humans are very complex beings capable of many things, going on that I don't think that expressing compassion for animals means you have any less compassion for people. Suggesting otherwise kinda demeans what we as people should be truly capable of accomplisihing.

I'm just curious here. If you have this respect, then why are you taking a thread that raises awareness of the plight of these creatures and demeaning the value of it?

There are plenty of threads/posts on this site that raise awareness on the human atrocities commited daily in this world. I don't think this thread negates those, or attempts to say "this is more important."

...spellcheck....

Ok...I read it...and it's comforting to know that there is hope...

Glimmers of hope

But the CSG sees some signs for hope. It says: "Several populations of southern right whales, humpbacks in many areas, grey whales in the eastern North Pacific, and blue whales in both the eastern North Pacific and central North Atlantic have begun to show signs of recovery."

The plan includes recommendations for action to protect some of the most threatened species. These include modifications to fishing methods that would benefit the baiji, vaquita, and Hector's dolphin.
