I hate to the bearer of bad news..but in this case I will make an exception;

SACRAMENTO, CA --- Sacramento Kings All-Star forward Chris Webber suffered an injury to his left knee at the 2:58 mark of the third quarter in the Kings’ 132-110 loss to the Dallas Mavericks last night in Game 2 of their best-of-seven, Western Conference Semifinals playoff series.

Team physician Dr. Richard Marder performed an MRI examination on Webber late this afternoon at the UC Davis Medical center, which revealed a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee.

The injury will require arthroscopic surgery. However, a surgery date has not yet been scheduled. The rehabilitation time is estimated to be a minimum of four to six weeks.

“Chris has been a true warrior all season, having played through a number of injuries,” said Kings President, Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie. “This is a huge disappointment, both personally and professionally for Chris and the entire organization. He’s had another All-NBA season and is our team leader. However, we have always proven to be a very resilient team when confronted with these types of situations in the past. I’m sure our team will be ready to respond to the challenge.”


I said it all along that I just cannot see the Kings making it thru the playoffs healthy. At least Chris Webber won't have the chance to choke in the Western Conference Finals.

Now when the Lakers get past the Spurs...

I usually do not take pleasure in injuries but all these numbnuts on here happy that Fox went down and then Devon George.

Lakers win both games this weekend, it will be a great week.

I'm a Lakers fan to my , that's on the real, but I hate that for Webber and the Kings (whom I almost consider Lakers North, with 2 former Lakers starters on the team). Webber's worked hard this year, and the Kings have played well enough this season to deserve a full complement of players in the critical rounds.

If the Lakers and Kings manage to meet in the WCF, and if the Lakers happen to prevail, I can hear the haters and "new" Kings fans now . . . we didn't have Webber.

But I'm getting ahead of myself on both counts.

Of course now that he is out of the playoffs, the real question is if Mr. Webber will cough up some money and pay back the University of Michigan in light of the basketball scandal.

The Kings would still beat the Lakers, in my opinion.

Phil Jackson ALWAYS complains about the Refs. Although, I think he had a valid point about foul shot opportunities after Game 1. Why do the refs so blatantly give the home team an advantage???

I've never known of a coach who DIDN'T complain about the refs, especially playoff coaches. They're lobbying for calls they think their team should have gotten, it's been that way since I can remember. I actually feared for Pat Riley's mental health when he went ballistic in the regular season about the refs. But I was specifically talking about a ton of Sacramento fans who do it. Even Bobby Jackson has kept that up in the media and was fined for it about the calls Utah was/wasn't getting in their first round series.

I'm not saying complaining about the refs at all is something uncommon (or that the refs don't make bad calls), I'm saying that for fans (or players outside of the game atmosphere) to habitually do it is whining. I'd say it about any fans or players. ALL teams get calls in their favor that were bad, but it doesn't determine a SERIES winner because those calls are there on both sides and they even out eventually. And when I say all this I'm not only talking about some of the fans here, I've read basketball boards where that mentality is prevalent too.

Btw, with Webber out do you think the Mavs have a chance to beat them?
