CATS ARE THE GREAT MEDIATORS... DOES YOUR CAT SPEAK HUMAN?

.
Who here has a cat?

Who here has learned to speak with their cat? I have.

Who here has realised that their cat can speak?

All cats can speak, but not all cats have learned how to.

Seriously, my familys' cat communicates through a series of "mmms" and "mmm hmmms", like she has learnt to imitate humans (which she has).

The thing is, cats believe they ARE human.

In any case, my cat definitely gets upset when one of our family is upset or we are fighting between ourselves. She knows the language of love, with her voice (we are a very vocal, communicative family, both my sister and I are singers and musicians).

We have friends who have realised that our cat is indeed communicating...and our vet says it is true, also. At first we thought it was a breathing problem, but she "talks" at all too appropriate times ("I'm bored"..."stop fighting and love each other, etc") for it to be just that.

Does anybody elses cat do this? Communicate vocally?

As they believed in Egyptian times, cats are the great mediators. No wonder they worshiped them as Gods.

I have two cats that I love dearly! My little cat, Reebok, makes the same kind of sounds that you mentioned in your post, except his is more like a trilling or a "rrr" sound. He does this when he's playing with the older cat, or sometimes he does it at me when he wants something, like his food dish filled up. I find myself making the same sound back to him, hoping he will do it again, and sometimes he does, it depends on his mood.

My other cat Shadow is a big talker! Whether he is hungry, or if you just chased him off the chair he was sleeping on, he lets you know how he is feeling in no uncertain terms. Shadow meows more readily at me when I communicate with him, in fact, you can practically have a regular conversation with him. Reebok doesn't quite meow as much, but he is getting a little more vocal as time goes on. He is learning that meowing gets him what he wants - lol!!

I used to have a cat, Scooter, that was very good at knowing when I was in a sad mood. He was very in tune with my vibes and knowing when I needed cheering up. I remember a few times when I was crying, and he looked right up into my face as if to say, "What's wrong, Mom?" I never had a cat do that before, but it was cute the way he knew when I was upset.

Unfortunately, I had to have Scooter put to sleep a few years back due to a cancerous tumor. I miss that guy, he would "walk me to the door" as I was leaving for work, and he would always stop at the very same place in front of the door, because he knew that he couldn't go with me. Cats really are great pets to have. It's nice to have a cat or cats to come home to; I wouldn't have it any other way. I could talk about cats all day, I just love them!

I have two cats that I love dearly...and they're both 'talkers'...the girl, Jinx, more so than the boy, Iggy.
They let me know when they want attention...when their bowls are empty...when they want treats...etc, etc, etc. But, they also come when I call them by name. smile
I love my kitties smile

My kitty used to talk to me. It was just me and her for 6 years so she slept, ate, played and cried with me. I had a rule love me love my cat. WE understood each other. She knew not to walk on my prince albums when I laid them out on the floor. My friends used to trip because she would walk on the others but not prince. She would tap you on the leg when she wanted something. She died 2 years ago at 18 I still cry for her.

The boy, he is not as vocal but he did react when my daughter took a trip recently, he was really depressed and actually made himself sick. He is the "king" and knows it.

I also have a German shepherd dog he was a puppy and my Boy was not threatened in the leastwhen we got him. The boy knows he is King!

Great thread!

Geez, I don't post on here much but dangit if I don't post on the 'cats' thread. I have 2 cats, Mani and Max. Mani is the mama of Max and I have had them for about 8 years now.
They totally communicate both verbally and non-verbally. One time we came home from work and one of the cats had walked on the bookcase and knocked off some books. When we came in, there was this whole scenario where Mani tried to distract us from going over by the bookshelf and Max stood right in front of it and didn't move as if to tell on her. It was very crazy!
Also, it's been quite a long time since Mani has been spayed but she sometimes take bits of leftovers and walks around with them in her mouth crying out for kittens to be fed which SHE OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT HAVE BECAUSE SHE IS SPAYED. She is a trip.
Cats are the bomb diggity. They also think that they are dogs sometimes.

That's so sad, poor kitty! Even though she is spayed, she still has her maternal instincts intact. sad
