Oh my god. I saw one of these just yesterday, and I nearly stabbed myself square in the heart in the middle of my living room.

It was terrible. All those dumbasses with their eyes closed, heads aimed to the skies, swaying their hands back and forth...

I wanted to kill someone... anyone! Mostly them.

Nothing in the world is worse than DC Talk.
What will people think when they hear that I'm a Jesus freak, what will people do when they find out it's true, I don't really care if people label me a Jesus freak, there ain't no disguising the truth...

rolleyes I think if I found this group of Jesus freaks, I'd punch them in their stupid faces. That's what I'd do. Stupid fuckers.

You should've punched your roommate in the face! God, I wouldn't be able to stand it. Someone would have to pay!

It helped that half of the time she was gone at some sort of 'christian power' meeting. I can't think of the name of the group, but I think it was at quite a few colleges. She would always ask if I'd want to go along, but I always gave the "i have to study excuse" . Maybe thats why I turned into a nerd. hmmm Its all starting to make sense...

I think I'd of still punched her in the face eventually. DC Talk has that effect on me. They make me violent!

Anyways, don't you hate it when the Xtianly people are so nice that you can't be mean? I mean, sometimes you can be mean to the ones who are putting off being nice... but the really nice ones, you just can't do it.

sigh

I hate DC Talk, once again.

What in the hell IS "Christian Music" anyway? Stevie Wonder sings about God, Terrence Trent D'Arby sings about God, there are alot of talented musicians from all genre's that sing about God. They don't label themselves "Christian" musicians.

I hate these Christian music commericials and their propaganda-like imagery. The music is insanely generic and derivative. All they do is go chase trends in music and try to sing their cornball religious phrases in that style. It's completely superficial and has none of the original impact and understanding of the genre itself.

This is interesting! My older sister is a hardcore "Born Again" or "Saved," whatever the hell they call themselves these days and she and I have many discussions about the fact that I'm going to hell (because I'm a homo and all) and she says stupid shit like "I'm praying for you sins," and offers advice and gives me CDs of all this Christian music junk...so I made her a copy of The Rainbow Children thinking she'd enjoy it...(I knew she wouldn't catch the possible JW references). Anyway, weeks later I asked her if she enjoyed her CD and she said she thought it was too "hard" and "didn't get it."

well, Pook, it would be like your brothers and sisters telling you they are praying for you to stop loving frogs and love a monkey instead because they think you're loving a frog is wrong.

Well, that's one way to look at it. Here's another:

The commercials run footage of concerts where contemporary worship music is being played. The attendees are worshiping God (as in "I could sing of Your love forever"), thinking on the many instances where they've seen His love at work in their lives.

My experiences in such an element have been twofold: 1) Your natural senses are reacting to what is (one hopes) good music. 2) Your spirit is worshiping God, creation to Creator. Think of it as a spiritually analogous to dancing with your sweetie to "Forever in My Life."

But, if the Subject of those worship songs is, as defined by the Bible (Romans 10:9-10/John 3:16), a Stranger to you, then having strong, hostile reactions to the commercials is understandable.

Shucks, I'm a Christian and, sometimes, the ads annoy me. wink
