the thing that happened most recently that made me feel really good is the fire-flash in Jean Grey's eyes during X3, hinting at an emerging Phoenix. and that almost-firebird effect in the water at the end. CHILLS! i'm tremendously happy about that.

I've been working part time on a company's web site. It was just a weekend job to supplement my income. A week and a half ago they offered me a full time position that will pay me more than double what I'm making now. I've been butting heads with two of my coworkers who are hyper-christians, and I was ready to walk out on a few occasions, so this new job came at a great time.

INSATIABLE said: My good friend and co-worker/cubicle partner Alethea went into brain surgery yesterday. The doctors told us to expect the worst because there were three tumors and two strokes on her brain.
I got a call late last night from her mother. They were all benign, and they removed them all, completely. She's recovering beautifully. Alethea is 29 and a beautiful person. She has four children and is raising them all by herself. She recently got out of an abusive relationship and over the past month was planning her funeral, will, and all of the exhausting paperwork regarding the custody of each child after her expected death. But she has kept positive and is the strongest person I know now. I honestly know that her attitude towards life has MUCH to do with her already speedy recovery in a time where the doctors told us there's be an 80% chance of her dying during the risky surgery alone. I get to visit her tomorrow. For all of that, I now believe in miracles and am very happy. Life is fragile and precious, and you never know when yours will be over. ... glad that she's doing better... hope you had a good time visiting her today... music midtown... i missed 2 of the 3 days, but still had a damn good time... ...
souled out, rocked hard, rolled over, overdosed on the rhythm and the blues, funked up, and in dire need of a shave and a shower... this is how i felt when i got back in at 4:45 sunday morning... ... my body aches from standing all day, and i don't even have the slightest bit of voice left... this is how i know that it was kick ass music festival... not the only thing that made me feel good this week... just the most recent... 'im not religious...but i feel so moved, it makes me wanna...praaay...' God, that song gets me - those of u who recognise the lyrics will know what I mean (Aaron will!) The most recent thing that gladend my heart and put a spring in my step was... I wok in a Wreka Stow, and recently, I put 'The Rainb w Children on in-store early one morning. It was a pretty slow morning all in all, and then this young mother cam in with her 2 adorable little boys - about 4 and 5. 1+1+1=3 was playing, and I happened 2 look over, and they were dancing around like their lives depended on it. It was SO very kool! Made my day...* (*Hey, what can I say? Im easily pleased!)

Hm! Here is the "other side" of that same coin: Here in DC where I work, I was outside finishing a conversation with a good friend of mine- an actual friend from the org, no less- & then I called my mother to speak with her briefly. While talking to my mother, this woman walked into the courtyard area, right past my line of vision, & then sat down. She was STUNNINGLY, nearly breathtakingly.. beautiful. I literally almost dropped my cell phone when I saw her. I went back upstairs to my office- where I could see into the courtyard, & yes, this woman was still sitting there, reading some magazine or something. I pointed this woman out to my colleague, from our window 8 stories up. Halfway seriously, I said to him: "if she's still sitting there at 5pm [when I finish work] I'm going to go down there & say something to her." Both my colleague & I figured she'd be long gone by then. In that plus 75 minute period from when I first went back upstairs, until 5pm, I checked the courtyard maybe 4 times, to see if she was still there. She was. 5pm came, & as I had promised myself, I went down to the courtyard. She was still there. I walked up to her, & upon closer inspection, this woman was even MORE BEAUTIFUL up close, than what I had originally seen. I looked directly at her, & somehow managed to untie my tongue & form the following sentences: "Excuse me. I saw you earlier when you walked into the courtyard, & I want to tell you.. when I saw you walk in, I literally almost dropped this [showing her my cellphone] because I was so taken aback by your outfit & your look. You are a very attractive woman. Because you just made my weekend, I wanted to wish you a nice one as well." She seemed really surprised at qst, & then she was clearly.. flattered. She sensed the spontanaeity of my gesture, as well as the sincerity of my words, & she had this.. look of "incredulous pleasure" on her face.. As I walked back upstairs to my office, I think the smile I had on my face was bigger than the 1 she had. I also walked back to my office with the distinct impression that she just might have wanted me to stay.. & talk with her.. longer.. But, I sensed that this 1 moment in my life (which has had its share of imperfect moments) was perfect, & I was loathe to change 1 instant of that moment. She stayed in the courtyard for at least another half hour, from what I could tell. Maybe she was waiting for someone, maybe she was looking for someone.. It was never my intention to exchange names or anything like that. I also know that had I been doing any of the other things that I normally do at that time of day, I would have never even seen this woman.. & really, it will be alright if I never see this woman ever again in my life.. for, the way she was dressed, the way she looked, & the way she reacted when I told her what I did.. all this will linger in a small cove of my memory.. indefinitely. La vie est vraiment.. belle. I'll see you tonight..

God, that song gets me - those of u who recognise the lyrics will know what I mean (Aaron will!) i do. along with Substitute For Love, this is one of the few Madonna songs that has actually MOVED me or that I felt I could specifically relate to as-is without trying to reinterpret it to overlay it onto my life, mood, whatever.
