I recently sent out a text to folks saying my cancer was terminal. Terminal is the wrong word.

Then, I think I said it was untreatable. That was wrong. My nurse corrected me on this.

My cancer is typically the kind where up to 90% of people can survive it. Not me! It’s grown right through all the chemotherapy. Radiation affected it, but it’s still there.

The term is My Cancer is Incurable. Words are important. Terminal, untreatable, and incurable are all different meanings.

Incurable means it’s not going away. But there are options for treatment. One of those is immunotherapy. It usually comes with a little chemo anyway. This could help extend my life by weeks or months, depending on how the regimen is and how effective it becomes. I’m quite willing to try these things to extend my life.

My doctor called yesterday while I snoozed (after I’d seen her earlier). She ended up calling Brian and mentioned she thinks the CT scan shows that it is in my lungs as well (which could explain my cough). She’s due to call me today to update me directly.

I still have a PT scan scheduled on the 13th. I also have a radiation follow-up on the 7th. I hope another round of radiation can help close this wound on my neck even more. So a prognosis is still working itself out.

And it's very poor taste to take advantage of someone's disease to spread misinformation like this. And on the verge of criminal to advise someone to stop their medical treatment.

Sad to hear this. Keep your head in a positive place, I know easier said than done, but it helped my mom when she was diagnosed.
