Today I learned that there is to be a reboot of one of my favourite shows of all time, The X-Files. As far as I know, it's set within the continuity of the original show and will follow two new FBI agents as they reopen the X-Files division within the FBI.

Unfortunately, that means no Mulder & Scully but given that it's set in the same world as the original show I'm hopeful we will get a few special appearances at some point. The new female lead is played by someone called Danielle Deadwyler who I must admit, I've never heard of. But I'm sure people in the early 90s never heard of Gillian Anderson either so I guess we'll see how it goes. No word yet on who the male lead will be. But I'm willing to make a bet with anyone here that the Cigarette Smoking Man will somehow make yet another comeback from the dead

Hopefully it's a show where they love the source material without being too confined by it. I always worry that the freedoms that came with that era of tv are not present in the studio machines of today.

The guy who's writing it said that the X-Files was his mother's favourite show so he wants to make sure they get it right. So he's making all the right noises at least. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it turns out in the end.
