Cornbread, Earl and Me In 1975, during the height of the Blaxploitation movement that was going down in American movies, the novel Hog Butcher was adapted by screenwriter Leonard Lamensdorf and director Joe Mandrake. Released under the title Cornbread, Earl and Me, the picture was an American International Picture release that starred thirteen-year-old Laurence Fishburne in his film debut as Wilford. There was also NBA star Keith Wilkes as Cornbread, Rosalind Cash as Wilford’s mother and Bernie Casey playing the other policeman. Soul-jazz unit The Blackbyrds did the soundtrack. Though not as brilliant as the funky scores composed by Isaac Hayes or Curtis Mayfield, leader Donald Byrd created a serviceable soundtrack. https://crimereads.com/ronald-fair-hog-butcher-cornbread-earl-me/

That title sounds familiar--may have seen it a million years ago... Now I'll have to check it out. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
