Classic, my family is the same with old movies, and they constantly play old movies.
Heaven forbid you mention it's something you've never seen before.
"What!? You've never seen 'Coming to America' before!?"
And before you can get out a half-syllable of reply they got the vol button mashed sky high and the whole fam unites to shout out lines before they happen over each other.
Half the lines are wrong due to like subtle nuance like "Luke I am your father" actually being "No, I am your father" or whatever, the movie is completely unintelligible over the cacaphony of people shouting words at the screen before they happen.
"Great movie, right? RIGHT?!?!"
Anyway every other casting of Lois & Clark are unattractive trolls with zero romantic chemistry compared to Dean Cain & Terri Hatcher.
I wouldn't call Christopher Reeve an unattractive troll, to be honest. He was a very handsome man. In fact, I think all the Supermen have been very handsome men. Well, apart from that guy on the new show. Terri Hatcher is definitely the most attractive Lois Lane though. But that girl from Smallville was really pretty too from what I remember.
You omitted my central qualifier--compared to Dean Cain & Terri Hatcher.
I'm sorry, but that's the greatest looking couple in TV history. Compared to them we're all like that Twilight Zone episode where they obscure the characters for 20 minutes and it turns out we're in the land of pigfaces.
And that's just looks. Frothy romantic chemistry was even more off the charts. https://www.youtube.com/w...4KggG3wKpY
Also, they butcher Lois Lane in all other depictions, they make her like grizzled, fatigued, pissy girlboss without any of the nuance. Terri Hatcher's Lois Lane could save the day on her own and would go home and cry in a bowl of Rocky Road to some cheesy made-for-TV romances.
All the other Lois Lane's are unattractive without even getting into looks, which again, land 'o' pigfaces compared to the masterful hunky swagger of Dean Cain and Terri Hatcher's acting clinic balancing act of how you depict the only woman fit for a Superman.
Also pretty sure that was Lana Lang on Smallville, though I never watched Smallville, however Stern used to talk about it every morning before school. Compared to anybody, Christopher Reeve is the best. Dean Cain was a very handsome man when he was younger though, I'll give him that. In terms of most attractive TV couples, I'd probably vote for Mulder and Scully but Lois and Clark are a decent shout as well. And no, I'm not talking about Lana Lang on Smallville. Although she's very pretty too. But Lois Lane is also in Smallville and (SPOILERS) her and Clark eventually get married. And they make a very attractive couple as well. |

George Reeves over Christopher Reeve, but RIP to both.
Were Mulder and Skully supposed to be a couple the whole time? Wasn't that like a later-in-the-series jump the shark thing?
and lolz I appreciate the spoiler on Lois Lane and Clark Kent's marriage. [Edited 6/21/24 15:13pm] |

[Edited 6/21/24 15:13pm] George Reeves looks like somebody's grandfather in those pictures. You can keep your Super(old)man, I'll keep Christopher Reeve. Mulder and Scully had a kind of will they won't they relationship since pretty much the first episode. And the were both clearly into each other from the beginning. They only got together around season 6 or 7 though. I wouldn't call it a jump the shark situation either. It was always on the cards for them to get together. If they didn't, I would have been really pissed off. |

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovney had a brief affair when the show first started so the chemistry was real. And... I always found George Reeves an unattractive joke. That ain't Superman. I have been binging the Interview With A Vampire series. First season was incredible! They are losing me with the second season though. Storylines are not as interesting. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I feel the opposite and think the second season of Interview with the Vampire is more exciting than the first--especially after this week's episode which featured a significant scene from the book that I had been waiting for.

The pure seething jealousy from the punk kids of prince org as it relates to the ORIGINAL Superman George "OG" Reeves is quite disconcerting.
Oh well what do you expect, tiktok gen simply can't handle that the physique they now deride as a "dad bod" was once upheld as the pinnacle human specimen, a SUPER man, if you will.

See, I'm being genuine now, but the obsession with youth is one of the worst parts of modern superhero fandom.
It's why we've had like 12 Spider-Men in the last 10 years and they keep getting younger and younger. Miles Murphy's in like middle school saving the world.
There's still badass stories to be told with aged heros. The Spider-Man of my youth was separated from MJ, burnt out, MJ moved out to California to focus on modeling, dude got a job in the Bronx as a science teacher to at-risk youth and was now getting bullied by bad ass kids 'Stand & Deliver' / 'Dangerous Minds' style instead of Flash Thompson. It was a delight.
Batman now looks like he's 19, "detective", please. Get Batboy back on the cover of Weekly World News, gtfo with this Happy Meal shit. |

So of course he's going to be young. I personally prefer Tobey Maguire, who looked about 30 in Spider-Man but was supposed to be about 16. But if you want an older version of Spider-Man then the version from the PS5 game has got you covered. I still haven't seen The Batman with Robert Pattinson but as far as I understand, the movie is about his early days as Batman. So again, he kind of has to be young. Besides, the previous Batman was Ben Affleck. Who must be in his 50s at this stage. So if they went for another old Batman it would just feel like more of the same. In other words, multiple different versions of all these characters exist across a variety of media. If one doesn't do it for you, then perhaps another will. |

George Reeves posing with Lucille Ball is appropriate because his performance as Superman was pure comedy. Tiktok generation, eh? I watched the George Reeve's Superman show in the 60s' when I was a kid and thought it was funny then. I only took Superman seriously when Christopher Reeve gave a great performance as Superman in the 70s. Oh dear lord.
Based on what?
This is the worst part of the comic movie explosion. People acting like they speak as some kind of historical authority based on two decades of shitty movies.
Spider-Man literally only was a teenager in the 60s OG Stan Lee / Steve Ditko original run of Spider-Man comic books. Maybe 100-20 issues, if that? He was already a grown-ass adult when Harry Osbourne died in #200, that's for certain.
But he aged normally, like all superheroes do in the comics. Shit's not like The Simpsons where they're perpetually stuck at one age. The fact that you felt compelled to correct me like it's empirical fact that he's perpetually 14 is a testament to what I'm whining about here.
By now he'd be like 40-45? Almost 50? The comics always kept going normally, they're almost on issue #900 by now. When I was a kid in the 90s dude was in his mid-30s and had marriage, rent, and job problems. Which somehow I felt compelled enough to read and enjoy as a pre-teen, and as an adult maintain aged like fine wine and are the true great stories of the Spider-Man canon.
Dude had like 4 titles running at once and in all of them he was full grown adult age with adult problems. They didn't spam this idea that "Spider-Man is the definitive teenager" until after the Tobey movies, which by the way he portrays as an active college student outside of the first 15 minutes of Spider-Man.

...Wasn't the last series about his early days as Batman. Literally the beginning of Batman? I believe it was called Batman Begins.
The Nolan series had old man Batman, too, and can you really count the Ben Affleck version, he didn't even get a solo film, he was a glorified cameo.
You're just pulling out contemporary Batman contrarian net logic now. It's like all the hype about the new Batman, "ooh finally he's a Detective!" "the TRUE detective batman!" like how was he not already "detective" in the previous 20 Batman movies? He's literally even got a full blown forensic lab in the Adam West and Michael Keaton versions... |

You were complaining about all the young versions of superheroes and you now just said that the Nolan movies also had the old man Batman. So what are you complaining about really? The last iteration of Batman was old. This new one is young. Would you prefer every version of the character was an old man? Because that would get really boring really fast. |

So in the comics he starts off as a teenager right? So how is it unusual to you that when they start a movie series the character will be a teenager? The Tobey Maguire movies starts off with him in school and by the time the third movie is out he's much older. So the character aged with the movies. When it came time to reboot it for the MCU he started off as a teenager again in high school. But now, several movies in, he's off to college. So he's aging with the movies. Just like you say he did in your comics. So where's the problem? |
