What’s everyone watching on TV?

I’m watching Dark Matter- loving it! And was a great dancing scene using Raspberry Betet in a recent episode. Love hearing a Prince tune in a current Tv show

I've been watching The X-Files. I was far too young for it when it originally aired and I've been putting off watching it for so long because I'm really terrified of anything remotely horror-based but I've been really enjoying it. It's not the kind of show I thought it was. There's a lot more humour than I expected. So episodes play out like pure comedies. There are a couple of episodes I watch through my fingers but I've handled it all pretty well all things considered.

I'm almost at the end now though. I've only got the last few episodes of the original run to go and then there were two more short seasons that came much later. Plus the second movie. Then I'll be done with it. Kind of sad really. I've devoted the last 6 months of my life to this show lol

I like the new detective series Will Trent based on a series of novels. The novelist also developed the show.

My cousin is a huge fan of that Superman show. She made me watch the whole thing with her and it was so annoying lol . I actually liked the show but she was saying the lines before the actors were saying them so it was kind of like Terri Hatcher was just an echo. It was a good show though, I liked it a lot.

I keep a little spreadsheet for our TV viewing, or else I forget. For now, this is what we cycle through.

Some things are noted a day after they may air on cable or regular TV, because we're typically watching them on streaming the next day, to avoid ads.

If you have a problem with me, text me. If you don't have my number, you don't know me well enough to have a problem with me.

It literally just hit me right now that The X Files is coming back! Like I follow a million fan pages on insta and seen all the pictures updates and behind the scenes clips but watching this idk like it brought a tears to my eyes! Also the ending was amazing!!! lets be honest, Jimmy was saying what was all on our minds .

Uh, I was a huge X Files fan back in the 90s but the last two seasons and the ending were a lot less than I had hoped for. When David Duchovney left the show it sank like a tank and even though he came back at the end Chris Carter didn't know how to end it like he didn't with his other shows. razz

Except for the Cigarette Man blowing up in a cave. That was spectacular! Laughed my ass off. lol

Dark Matter is actually a great show in the midst of no-shows.

There was also a new Star Wars series that turned to shit after the second episode.

Did i mention how great the continuation of 'The Boys' is???

Another old show that's worth watching is Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Didn't like it when it first aired but got addicted to it down the line--actually I had friends that would cook and then we would make a night out of watching Buffy or Law and Order SVU. The Buffy series was so good that it was best at the end! What a way to end a TV series! Chris Carter should have done an ending like that! cool

Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire

I read the book several years ago and think this is a very good alternate reality adaptation.

I was on holiday in Germany last month and was inspired to start watching this series when I got home. It's the antihero crime boss story you've seen before, but set in Berlin's arab community. Reviews are stellar.

I'm hearing mixed things about that new Star Wars show. It seems to be getting really good reviews but a lot of Star Wars fans hate it. It makes me kind of curious. I might have to watch that next and see what all the fuss is about.

Classic, my family is the same with old movies, and they constantly play old movies.

Heaven forbid you mention it's something you've never seen before.

"What!? You've never seen 'Coming to America' before!?"

And before you can get out a half-syllable of reply they got the vol button mashed sky high and the whole fam unites to shout out lines before they happen over each other.

Half the lines are wrong due to like subtle nuance like "Luke I am your father" actually being "No, I am your father" or whatever, the movie is completely unintelligible over the cacaphony of people shouting words at the screen before they happen.

"Great movie, right? RIGHT?!?!"

Anyway every other casting of Lois & Clark are unattractive trolls with zero romantic chemistry compared to Dean Cain & Terri Hatcher.

I wouldn't call Christopher Reeve an unattractive troll, to be honest. He was a very handsome man. In fact, I think all the Supermen have been very handsome men. Well, apart from that guy on the new show. Terri Hatcher is definitely the most attractive Lois Lane though. But that girl from Smallville was really pretty too from what I remember.

Has anybody seen the Frasier revival? I'd be curious to hear what fans of the old show thought about it. I only really started watching Frasier about a year ago while I was out of work and I got really into it. But I liked the revival. Some of the new characters didn't really do it for me though. And I wish Niles was in it. But I liked it overall.

I haven't. But the problem with most of these classic shows coming back is that the fans don't care for the new characters. I heard this too for the Frasier revival.

And practically no one from the original came back for that Frasier reboot. I've not heard about it since it debuted.

Mad About You tried it, too. It wasn't a bad reboot, but I suppose sometimes it's either no one wants to circle back, and/or the public has reboot fatigue.

Props to shows like Seinfeld, Friends, etc that chose to not do things like that. Sure there was a Curb reunion, but it wasn't a full on series reorder. I really hated the way Will & Grace ended after 3 years. I was glad they were back but knowing the back end stuff, I wish they'd not done it at all. That one little political video they did was enough.

Roz was in one episode and Lilith was in an episode too. And it's been confirmed that Roz is going to be a recurring character in the next season with both Gil (my favourite character) and Bulldog also returning in guest spots. So hopefully the next season will be a bit better for long term fans.

Yeah I do wish more of the older characters had come back. Like I said in my previous post, we got one episode with Lilith and another one with Roz but the show is really missing Niles. The next season is bringing back more of the older characters and in fairness, the new characters do kind of grow on you as the series goes on. So I have high hopes for next season. And fingers crossed they can convince Niles to come in for at least one episode. And fuck it, why not get the guy from Cheers as well?

I’m a huge fan of the original Frasier - really was top notch comedy. All the characters worked so well together.
The reboot really lacked chemistry between the Characters. Had a few nice moments but it just felt like it was trying too hard. The Lilith and Roz episodes were nice and nostalgic. Pleased Roz is back as a series regular for S02. Cannot stand the actors playing Freddie and David - just not funny. But I will persevere with S02 and keep my fingers crossed that Niles and Daphne pop up, and would love to also see Bebe Glazer return.

You omitted my central qualifier--compared to Dean Cain & Terri Hatcher.

I'm sorry, but that's the greatest looking couple in TV history. Compared to them we're all like that Twilight Zone episode where they obscure the characters for 20 minutes and it turns out we're in the land of pigfaces.

And that's just looks. Frothy romantic chemistry was even more off the charts.

https://www.youtube.com/w...4KggG3wKpY

Also, they butcher Lois Lane in all other depictions, they make her like grizzled, fatigued, pissy girlboss without any of the nuance. Terri Hatcher's Lois Lane could save the day on her own and would go home and cry in a bowl of Rocky Road to some cheesy made-for-TV romances.

All the other Lois Lane's are unattractive without even getting into looks, which again, land 'o' pigfaces compared to the masterful hunky swagger of Dean Cain and Terri Hatcher's acting clinic balancing act of how you depict the only woman fit for a Superman.

Also pretty sure that was Lana Lang on Smallville, though I never watched Smallville, however Stern used to talk about it every morning before school.
