Oh lawd, you are SO describing my group of friends growing up. . .while I never really considered myself goth, I do own some key wardrobe peices (no PVC Ian, but some black crushed velvet). And I'm afraid that I still haven't recovered from the goth makeup formula:

You must listen to the Cure, Bauhaus, Fields of the Nephilim and such and contemplate suicide or being a vampire... you must embrace the darkness of the soul... you must live in your parents' basement... you might very well dig Dungeons and Dragons... you must feel alienated and then go out of your way to aliente yourself further by wearing makeup to make you look like a corpse dressed in black... you should always dye your hair raven black...

there's only one cure for the over-gothically inclined. IceNine it'll be hard but you can cure the condition by wearing red shoes, green and purple plaid pants with red suspenders, a flamboyantly blue shirt and a big sombrero every day for the next week.

i promise you NO one will mistake you for goth if you do these things
