What are your thoughts about humans on the Moon (or beyond)? NASA's 2023 budget was $25.4 billion.
By contrast, the US defense budget for 2023 was about $858 billion.
I guess the priority is to minimalize the population first, then explore outwards? "Whatever skin we're in

Humans leaving Earth to explore and eventually live in space, be it on other planets or space stations, is the next logical step. It won't happen in my lifetime. But in 2000, 3000 years or so, it will probably be pretty common. If we don't blow ourselves up first, of course. |

is this a serious question?? I guess the 60s space program and 'Space race' is not someting that's taught anymore. It's pretty obvious why America would come up with something like that if they were behind the Russians with there space program. I do believe humans have walked on the moon, butI have to agree to some point that there was some magic going on when teh US wasn't even remotely as far with there space program as the Russians were went they sent Gagarin to space, but then all of a sudden the US gained the Russians in tech in really suspect super high speed in a short amount of time and went on to send people to the moon.

A lie that big would require far too much cooperation and involve thousands of people. There's no way they would be able to keep it secret. And if the Russians were so far advanced they would have been able to tell by now whether the Americans faked it or not. And seeing as even the Russians are happy to go along with giving the Americans credit for landing a man on the moon then I think it's fair to say that it actually happened. I love a good conspiracy theory but it has to be at least plausible to be interesting to me. The Americans faked the moon landing, the Earth is flat, Elvis is alive etc are not on that list. |

I'm just saying the sudden gain in tech for the US near the end of the 60s to fullfil Kennedy's promise to put people on the moon before the 70s is suspect. We also don't know how capable suspect governments are oin hiding things from the people. But in the end it doesn't matter anyway. suspect governments are gonna do suspect things anyway for whatever there agenda is. I still believe the US put a man on the moon but I also believe that some of the footage shown in the 60s were faked to fool the public and there competition. Plus the fact that they reused he tapes with all the original high quality footage of the landing so they can't be studied and al we are left with is grainy low quality footage.
In the end it doesn't mater tho. the US is gonna US. |

Speaking of conspiracy theories, I've seen it suggested that American space flight technology moved so quickly in the 60s was due to their top scientists studying the alien spacecraft that crashed in Roswell in the 40s. Now THAT is the kind of government cover-up I like. I mean, there's no proof that story is real either and it's even more ridiculous than the story that the moon landing was faked but it's the kind of thing I wish was real |

Here's something to think about, China, Russia and North Korea all have telescopes and sattelites. They all have the technology to map out the surface of the moon. Wouldn't they all liked to exposed the US if they faked the moonlanding. Let's not forget the Space Program did not just start in the 50's/60's, but pretty much in 1945 after WW2 The US & Russia were snatching up up German scientitst left and right. Let's not forget the Germans built the V-2 rocket at the end of WW2. So for the German scientitsts they had 2 options they could go to prison (or even be exucuted) or work for the US/Russia and build rockets. So what do you think the chose (ok maybe not a choice by Russia). |

Sure that was right after WW2, but that doesn't explan the sudden leap in tech and progress the US made just before the 70s when Russia had them mostly beat. Like I said I do believe the US went to the moon, just not when they claimed they did.

Sudden leap??? You have rocket scientists working around the clock for about 25 years straight [Edited 3/8/24 9:15am] |

Well mentioning WWII you know wheer the leap came from.
Einstein is one. I don't know that history well but a lot of scientist left that part of the world and ended up in the US. There's some dark and uncomfortable history in all that. Given that the government at some point and time gave all kinds of grant for all kinds of experiments. Basically thowing everything at the wall seeing what stuck. Time keeps on slipping into the future...
