can we still swear

here?
I mean if I need to keep the swearing off at the npg, I need a place to let it all out.

are there still only human filters here (moderators)?

Of course you fucking can! smile

The Org doesn't have a problem with such language. Sometimes such words are useful. I don't really see the point of banning specific words.

The only words we don't allow usually is stuff like racist slurs etc... and we are more about banning the intention of the person posting it more than the actual word itself.

Ian ... for the purposes of clarification, I would just like to understand what you mean by the above in relation to the Terms of Service with which everyone is asked to comply, and where it states:

'You agree to not use the Service to: ... post ... any Content that is vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable'

I presume that from what you have said, as the Moderator you are prepared to allow most swearing to be posted on the site because you do not consider it is 'vulgar' or 'otherwise objectionable', even though some visitors will find it to be exactly that?

Yes. The moderators will exercise their own judgement with regard to what it is "vulgar and obscene". It is our decision to make. Some people may disagree with our decisions, but we can't please everyone.

For example we'll generally remove pornographic images from the site. Using a few four-letter words won't make me lose any sleep though. Certainly, in the time that I've been running things on the site I haven't ever censored bad language, unless it was a part of some flame or some other infraction of the site rules.

I don't believe in telling people what words they may or may not use to express themselves. We have enough rules on the site without telling people that it is "wrong" to swear. This site is for adults, after all.

Might lose a few minutes off of those, don't ya think?

And... are you sure this site is for adults?

Thanks Ian for the clarification - it basically confirmed my understanding.

I recognise that the site is primarily designed for adults, (although the Terms of Service anticipate the possibility that minors might visit the site.)
