Whatchu' Watchin'?

With the fall season coming on us in another month or so, new shows are starting to come back for a new season, or their first.

Is anyone stuck on anything good?

My short list of things I've watched, am watching, or plan to:

  • Lord of the Rings on Prime
  • House of the Dragon
  • The Handmaid's Tale (in a couple of weeks)
  • The Chi (still working my way through this season)
  • The Umbrella Academy*

We're also due to watch Orphan: First Kill on Paramount+.

I'm also waiting out that Kenobi behind the scenes thing.

I loved The Orville and Only Murders In The Building. Both are the highest onDemand shows on Hulu right now.

* I made a deal with my cousin. They watch two episodes of Ozark, and I'll watch two episodes of The Umbrella Academy. Neither of us had watched the other. A week later, I'm smack dab in the middle of season 2, and loving it.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I haven't been consistent since I don't have to be. It's taking me a while to catch up on my standard shows. I'm still working on Doc Martin. Just catching up on Grey's.

I am hooked on HOTD that's probably the best series right now. Also watching Industry, Reservation Dogs and started The Rings of Power.

I'm into Devil in Ohio at the moment. She-hulk is really a let down for me, it's not how I think she-hulk should be. Started house of dragon, first episode was amazing, after that not so much.

That She-Hulk thing looks ridiculous. I thought it was a spoof when I saw the trailer the first time.

She-Hulk is fun! I used to love the comics.

.

Fun fact: Stan Lee created She-Hulk after the success of the Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman TV shows.

"She-Hulk wasn't created until a few years later, in 1980, as a result of similar issues. Marvel's Incredible Hulk TV series was proving to be a massive success on CBS, and the publisher became concerned the network would create a She-Hulk for the show. If they did so, CBS would own the copyright to that character, and they'd potentially be able to use her without paying Marvel a penny. Again, it sounds ridiculous, but there was good reason for Marvel's concern; ABC had just launched a Bionic Woman spinoff from The Six-Million Dollar Man using that very approach. This time Stan Lee himself dreamed up She-Hulk, working with artist John Buscema. She was the last character Lee would design for decades, until he returned to Marvel Comics in the '90s to launch the 2099 range."

I loooooooved Six Million Dollar Man, Bionic Woman and The Incredible Hulk. I never missed those shows. Fem bots, bionic bigfoot, some big tank with a mind of its own, and Jamie Summers tearing the phone book in front of her disruptive class - GET IT GIRL! Bill Bixby was a hottie, as was Lee Majors.

I adored Bill Bixby, I cried a bit when he died. My Favorite Martian, Courtship of Eddie's Father, The Magician. The Incredible Hulk. touched

I haven't felt motivated to watch She-Hulk but I told my son I'd watch it so maybe after the series ends.

Industry is my thing now and it's doing a tie in to Succession, the ultimate of all shows. I'm excited for next week's episode.

I've also been watching "American Horror Stories" season 2.
I never finished session one. (Missed 2 or 3 of the last episodes)
I feel this season is a bit better. But still not too crazy for the show.

I was a fan of the movies.
I've seen headlines that it was a turky (bad) of a show.
I dont always believe what I see.
Any thoughts?

I just finished the first episode. I really enjoyed it. I may watch the second one a bit later tonight.
It takes places thousands of years before The Hobbit. It condenses things like the rise of Sauron, the forging of the rings, the last covanent between Men and Elves, etc. Those things take place over thousands of years, but it's shorter for the series.

Also, the trailer for the AMC limited 8-episode Interview with the Vampire series looks good.

Thanks. I guess I needed a push to watch it lol
I watched the first episode last night. I enjoyed it as well.
My girlfriend was half paying attention to the show, by the end she glued to the screen. Then she says "That's a series?"

Its added to my weekly playlist cool

I recently finished a few shows that I think are very good and deserve bigger spotlights:

Undone - two seasons on Amazon Prime - A woman discovers she has a new relationship with time after surviving a car accident that almost killed her.

This animated sci-fi fantasy drama stars Rosa Salazar and Bob Odenkirk.

P-Valley - two seasons on Starz - Follows the lives of strip club dancers working down in the Dirty Delta.

Season two gets a lot of respect from me for showing the early effects of the pandemic on working class people in the south when many other shows ignore that it ever happened. The romance between club manager Uncle Cliff (pictured above) and in-the-closet-rapper Lil' Murda is also a highlight.

Rap Sh!t - one season on HBO Max - A female rap group from outside of Miami trying to make it in the music industry.

Issa Rae's new TV series after Insecure.

I'm also really liking She-Hulk. Having read the comics in the late 80s/early 90s, the TV series is very much like those books. Her name is admittedly dated (from late 1979) so I can understand it being mistaken for a parody by those who had never heard of her.

One more:

Pachinko - one season on Apple TV+ - Based on the New York Times bestseller, this sweeping saga chronicles the hopes and dreams of a Korean immigrant family across four generations as they leave their homeland in an indomitable quest to survive and thrive.

This is the best show I've seen in years. I hope the extremely high standard carries over to the recently announced second season.

I was so beyond ready for this series when it came out. I had devoured the book last year. I think they missed a large part of it, so season 2 will pick up on that I assume.

Just finished up The Bear, starring Lip from Shameless. Very good and gritty, I'll be there for season 2.

Started Shut Eye, it's already 2 seasons deep.

I started Devil in Ohio on Netflix. Honestly, it feels like Lifetime or Hallmark trying to do a scary movie. I'm 3 episodes in, but it seems rather tame all things considered. It's a limited series, so there is obviously more to come. It's just very.... generic.

Ready for the 2nd season of Abbott Elementary to begin enjoying that show nice seeing Tyler James Williams again. Grand Crew 2nd season was good hope it gets a 3rd season.

I've decided I like Rings of Power. Its slow but its nice seeing places that were in ruins in LotR thriving and lush. The Elf memorial stands out to me, had me wondering if such designs will be available in the metaverse.

Still loving HOTD.

I'm about to watch the latest THT in about 15 minutes.

I'm still digging Andor.

I'm one episode behind on LOTR and GOT shows.

Rami is finally back for season 3 on Hulu.

I'm also going to start Interview with the Vampire. It's on the DVR.

Plus - THE MASKED SINGER IS BACK!
