Hello. New Fan Here Hi. Part-time lurker here. Before I introduce myself, let me just say for full disclosure, I am not CURRENTLY a big Prince fanatic. I am of course familiar with his biggest hits and I've probably heard some stuff that would be considered rare for a casual fan. That being said, my reasons for finally joining this community are twofold. For one, ever since first being exposed to Prince's music through my cousin I have been interested in diving deeper but I've never really followed through with it. So hopefully now I can get some recommendations from you guys on where to start with an artist who has like 50 albums or whatever. So apologies in advance for asking stupid questions. My second reason for joining this community is to pay tribute to my previously mentioned cousin. She went by the name EmmaMcG on here. A name which I've kind of stolen. I won't get too mushy (yet) but I know she still lurks on here and I know she'll be reading this. For those who don't know, she moved to Japan and I miss her a lot. She took me in despite not even knowing me really at all and we lived together for almost 10 years. And now she's gone but still allows me to live in her house relatively rent free. It goes without saying but I'll say it anyway. I love her a lot. And I know she got on really well with some of the people on here so if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me. Until everyone here starts hating me for asking them stupid questions like "what was Prince's real name?" Hahaha. Just kidding. | |

I was given two pieces of advice before joining this community. Number 1, don't ask what Prince's real name is. And number 2, never attempt to compile a single disc version of an album called Emancipation. So yeah, I've had my warnings  | |

The more people here, the better it is I say! I lurked here for a while before joining as well. At first I was a little intimidated because everyone seemed so knowledgable about Prince's music...but I joined because I wanted to be apart of Prince community. This place is a great way to learn about all things Prince, that's for sure. | |

I'll be speaking to her tomorrow and I will pass on your message. She's really busy with work at the moment but as far as I know she's doing really well. Everyone kind of takes the piss out of her accent though. In a friendly way, I'm sure. But I don't feel too bad for her because when I moved to Ireland first she was constantly trying to get me to say things "in Australian", as if it's another language or something. Even now, if she's having a bad day or something, she'll ask me to say "something Australian". And like a fool I'll do it just to cheer her up. Which just encourages her. She's a year and a bit older than me but I swear, sometimes it's like dealing with a mischievous child. | |

Hi and welcome to the org. One big thing you should know about the org is that is now a ghost town 😂 . Sure there are still some of us around. And with no new material or news theres more much to talk  I'm not trying to scare you away. It's great to see new faces here. As there are some cool and informative people here. And we are not all about Prince. Anywho enjoy your stay  I will take my place, In the great below | |

EmmaMcG was cool. She was like a year or two younger or older or exact same age or something. It stood out because sometimes it's more of an OG/old-school fan vibe here. Her first album was the then-current 3121, she'd mention that in many posts in the main forum how this shaped her Prince perspective, especially in appreciating later-period Prince (my third or fourth was the then-current N.E.W.S., which did the same). She probably registered many years before me (longtime former lurker here), doubt there were any major interactions. [Edited 10/8/22 23:42pm] |

I used to be part of another online community to primarily discuss video games but I left because there were so many arseholes who seemed to make it their mission to annoy and troll everyone else. Everyone here seems really nice so far though so even if there aren't as many people on here, I know which one I'd prefer. | |
